Anxiety and working memory capacity
Cognition & Emotion, 1988Abstract Two experiments were conducted to measure the comparative working memory capacities of highly anxious and low anxiety subjects. Experiment 1 employed a traditional digit span measure of capacity requiring storage only. The measure utilised in Experiment 2 required subjects to both process and store information.

Working Memory Training May Increase Working Memory Capacity but Not Fluid Intelligence
Psychological Science, 2013Working memory is a critical element of complex cognition, particularly under conditions of distraction and interference. Measures of working memory capacity correlate positively with many measures of real-world cognition, including fluid intelligence. There have been numerous attempts to use training procedures to increase working memory capacity and

Working Memory Capacity and Fluid Intelligence
Perspectives on Psychological Science, 2016Working memory capacity and fluid intelligence have been demonstrated to be strongly correlated traits. Typically, high working memory capacity is believed to facilitate reasoning through accurate maintenance of relevant information. In this article, we present a proposal reframing this issue, such that tests of working memory capacity and fluid ...

Working Memory Capacity: An Individual Differences Approach
1988Abstract : Five experiments are described that study the relationship between measures of working memory and reading comprehension. Two experiments investigated whether the complex span measure must be similar to the reading comprehension task to be predictive of comprehension. The correlation found between reading comprehension and two reading-related

Sensorimotor Working Memory Capacity Limits
2016Two novel studies examining the capacity and characteristics of working memory for object weights, experienced through lifting, were completed. Both studies employed visually identical objects of varying weight and focused on memories linking object locations and weights. Whereas numerous studies have examined the capacity of visual working memory, the
