In Situ Investigation of Microstructure Evolution and Stress Generation During Low‐Pressure Carburizing and Quenching by Means of Synchrotron X‐Ray Diffraction

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
This study uses in situ synchrotron X‐ray diffraction at the German Electron Synchrotron to analyze low‐pressure carburizing (LPC) in steels. The findings reveal surface carbon saturation and carbide formation kinetics, and phase‐specific stress development during quenching. The results show carbide kinetics depend on steel grade and size, while stress

ON NEW APPROACH TO DEVELOPING MATHEMATICAL MODEL OF WORKPIECE SURFACE FORMING UNDER VIBRATION CLEANING

open access: yesВестник Донского государственного технического университета, 2018
The issues on the mathematical description of the workpiece surface forming pattern generation under the vibration cleaning are considered. The probability that the predetermined point within the specific area has been cleaned is calculated.

Voxel-based end milling simulation of machining error induced by elastic deformation of tool and workpiece

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Mechanical Design, Systems, and Manufacturing
This study developed a voxel-based method to simulate machining error caused by elastic deformation of the tool and workpiece in end milling. The tool and workpiece shapes are represented by a set of cutting edge points and a voxel model, respectively ...

Influence of Ultrasonic‐Assisted Milling on Surface Integrity and Fatigue Strength of a Low Alloy Steel

open access: yesFatigue &Fracture of Engineering Materials &Structures, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The milling process significantly influences the surface integrity of metallic components through machining induced near‐surface residual stresses. Modern hybrid machining processes, such as ultrasonic‐assisted milling (USAM), offer the potential to induce beneficial near‐surface compressive residual stresses compared to the near‐surface ...

Scheduling optimization of optical lens polishing

open access: yesInternational Transactions in Operational Research, EarlyView.
Abstract Optical systems have achieved notable progress in focusing and imaging technologies; however, manual grinding remains indispensable, resulting in elevated costs, extended timelines, and inefficiencies. These difficulties are compounded by operational constraints, uneven machine utilization, and risks of order delays and escalating expenses ...

Impact of monomer contamination of isopropanol during post‐rinsing on the accuracy of dental models fabricated by vat photopolymerization

open access: yesJournal of Prosthodontics, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose The aim of this study was to investigate the impact of an increasing level of monomer contamination of isopropanol (isopropyl alcohol [IPA]) during post‐rinsing on the dimensional stability of test samples produced by vat photopolymerization.

Topology Optimization for a Rigid‐Compliant Hybrid Constant Force Gripper

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, Volume 8, Issue 3, March 2026.
Constant‐force grippers deliver near‐constant output without sensors, cutting cost and complexity. This study proposes a topology‐optimization framework jointly designing rigid links and material distribution, modeled via link‐state and element‐density variables with constant force as the objective.

Hybrid ANN‐Based Modeling and Optimization of Drilling Performance in Basalt Fiber Composites

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 8, Issue 3, March 2026.
This study optimizes drilling of woven basalt fiber–epoxy laminates using RSM and ANN–ABC models. Spindle speed, feed rate, and laminate thickness were analyzed for torque and delamination, identifying optimal conditions (1200 rpm, 0.1 mm/rev) for sustainable machining performance.
