Condition Monitoring of Wound Rotor Resolvers

2020 28th Iranian Conference on Electrical Engineering (ICEE), 2020
Resolver is an electromagnetic sensor for calculating position and speed in motion control drive of electrical machines. Due to electromechanical structure of the machine, occurrence of the mechanical faults includes static and dynamic eccentricities (SE, DE) is inevitable. Even an inherent level of SE exists in newly manufactured machines. Furthermore,

Thermal Model and Analysis of Wound-Rotor Induction Machine

IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, 2012
This paper presents a simplified thermal model for a wound-rotor induction machine. The thermal model is based on lumped parameters, and the analytical equations for their computation are provided in this paper. The procedures for the thermal model setup have been discussed and validated on a 3.8-hp wound rotor machine, comparing the predicted and ...

Performance analysis of wound rotor induction motor subjected to rotor windings asymmetry

IECON 2016 - 42nd Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2016
The aim of this paper is to analyze the performance of 3-phase wound rotor induction motor (WRIM) under rotor windings asymmetry. The behavior of WRIM were simulated under healthy and asymmetry conditions. With the aid of simulation results, variation of motor speed, electromagnetic torque, stator and rotor currents have been analyzed.

Stray Flux Analysis for the Detection of Rotor Failures in Wound Rotor Induction Motors

IECON 2019 - 45th Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2019
The analysis of the external magnetic field has been proven to be an effective way to diagnose different types of faults in induction motors. Classical methods based on permanent regime are being complemented by recent approaches that rely on the analysis of the magnetic field during transient operation of the machine.

Multi-harmonic tracking for diagnosis of rotor asymmetries in wound rotor induction motors

IECON 2013 - 39th Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2013
Most of the research work hitherto carried out in the induction motors fault diagnosis area has been focused on squirrel-cage motors in spite of the fact that wound-rotor motors are typically less robust, having a more delicate maintenance. Over recent years, wound-rotor machines have drawn an increasing attention in the fault diagnosis community due ...

Resolver motivated sensorless rotor position estimation of wound rotor synchronous motors

2013 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics, 2013
This paper presents a novel approach to sensorless control of wound rotor synchronous motor drives. The proposed rotor position estimation strategy is motivated by principle function of a resolver and utilizes design similarity between the controlled motor and the resolver based rotor position sensor.

Control of wound-rotor induction machine

Proceedings of Second International Conference on Power Electronics and Drive Systems, 2002
The main goal of this paper is to present a new torque and speed control method of the wound rotor induction machine (WRIM) through the control of the voltage applied to the rotor winding. The method is based on the rotor voltage orientation with respect to current using a converter cascade and a PI controller.

On the wound-rotor induction machine control

1997 IEEE International Electric Machines and Drives Conference Record, 2002
The main goal of this paper is to present a new torque and speed control method of the wound rotor induction machine (WRIM) through the control of the voltage applied to the rotor winding. The method is based on the rotor voltage and current orientation using a converter cascade and a PI controller.

Design of wound rotor low-voltage synchronous generator

2011 XXIII International Symposium on Information, Communication and Automation Technologies, 2011
Magnetic circuit design of wound rotor low-voltage three-phase synchronous generator for autonomous operation is presented in this paper. The Maxwell software based on two-dimensional finite element method (2D FEM) is used to study the performance of the synchronous generator in specified static operating regime.
