Penetrating wounds of the abdomen

Abstract A summary of twenty-two cases of perforating wounds of the abdomen is presented. The mortality was 31.2 per cent. Factors which appear to affect the mortality rate in this series are the time interval between injury and surgery and the number of abdominal organs damaged.

Penetrating wounds of the neck

Abstract Sixty-seven patients with penetrating neck wounds were treated at the Hennepin County General Hospital during the past ten years. There was a 6 per cent mortality in these cases which included twenty-five gunshot wounds and forty-one deep lacerations.
