How do humans resolve semantically ambiguous words? It happens that we will not find a direct answer from psycholinguistic studies. Nevertheless, through probing the organisation of words in the mental lexicon and the access of words, particularly those with multiple meanings, in the human mind, useful hints might be found.

Word sense ambiguity comes about the use of lexemes associated with more than one sense. In this research work, an improvement has been proposed and evaluated for our previously developed Assamese Word-Sense Disambiguation (WSD) system where potential outcomes of using semantic features were evaluated up to a limited extent.

Using Semantic Classification Trees for WSD
Computers and the Humanities, 2000This paper describes the evaluation of a WSD method within SENSEVAL. This method is based on Semantic Classification Trees (SCTs) and short context dependencies between nouns and verbs. The training procedure creates a binary tree for each word to be disambiguated. SCTs are easy to implement and yield some promising results.
