Choosing sense distinctions for WSD [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the 46th Annual Meeting of the Association for Computational Linguistics on Human Language Technologies Short Papers - HLT '08, 2008
Supervised word sense disambiguation requires training corpora that have been tagged with word senses, which begs the question of which word senses to tag with. The default choice has been WordNet, with its broad coverage and easy accessibility. However, concerns have been raised about the appropriateness of its fine-grained word senses for WSD.

Priming of labor with tafoxiparin in nulliparous term pregnant women with unripe cervix—Proof‐of‐concept and dose‐finding results from a randomized controlled trial

open access: yesActa Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, Volume 105, Issue 8, Page 1566-1577, August 2026.
This study shows that tafoxiparin 300 mg can increase the rate of cervical ripening and the likelihood of spontaneous onset of labor, while also reducing the duration of labor in women achieving spontaneous onset of labor. The favorable safety profile of tafoxiparin suggests suitability for routine clinical use, including home administration.

Introducing a machine-based approach for Word Sense Disambiguation: using Lesk algorithm and Part Of Speech tagging

open access: yesIranian Journal of Information Processing & Management, 2018
Present study introduces a machine-based approach for Word Sense Disambiguation (WSD). In Persian, a morphologically complex language, lots of homographs are made; one way for doing WSD is allocating the right Part Of Speech (POS) tags to words, prior to

How Do DICER1 Syndrome Mutations Disrupt Catalysis? Unveiling Dicer Metal Binding Architecture and Mechanism of Action Using MD Simulations and QM/MM Calculations

open access: yesJournal of Computational Chemistry, Volume 47, Issue 18, July 5, 2026.
Dicer plays a vital role in gene regulation, making understanding its function critical for drug design and addressing human diseases. This article uses a combination of MD and QM/MM techniques to elucidate structural details of the Dicer–substrate complex, the Dicer catalytic mechanism, and the misfunction of DICER1‐syndrome‐causing mutants.

“Western Diet”-Induced Adipose Inflammation Requires a Complex Gut MicrobiotaSummary

open access: yesCellular and Molecular Gastroenterology and Hepatology, 2020
Background & Aims: Consumption of a low-fiber, high-fat, Western-style diet (WSD) induces adiposity and adipose inflammation characterized by increases in the M1:M2 macrophage ratio and proinflammatory cytokine expression, both of which contribute to WSD-

A Proposal for WSD Using Semantic Similarity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
The aim of this paper is to describe a new method for the automatic resolution of lexical ambiguity of verbs in English texts, based on the idea of semantic similarity between nouns using WordNet.

Maternal Western diet exposure increases periportal fibrosis beginning in utero in nonhuman primate offspring

open access: yesJCI Insight, 2021
Maternal obesity affects nearly one-third of pregnancies and is a major risk factor for nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) in adolescent offspring, yet the mechanisms behind NAFLD remain poorly understood. Here, we demonstrate that nonhuman primate

Intensive use of lexicon and corpus for WSD

open access: yesProces. del Leng. Natural, 2004
El artículo trata sobre el uso de información lingüística en la Desambiguación Semántica Automática (DSA). Proponemos un método de DSA basado en conocimiento y no supervisado, que requiere sólo un corpus amplio, previamente etiquetado a nivel morfológico, y muy poco conocimiento gramatical.
