Fluorescent Colored Passive Radiative Cooling Based on Carbon Dots for Cooling Power Recovery

open access: yesEcoEnergy, EarlyView.
We demonstrate colored passive radiative coolers consisting of a highly reflective porous ceramic base covered by an eco‐friendly luminescent carbon dot‐polymer composite, with two types of carbon dots enabling conversion of either ultraviolet or visible light, respectively.

Potential of forest height estimation using X band by means of two different inversion scenarios [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Polarimetric SAR Interferometry (Pol-InSAR) is a powerful remote sensing method for forest height estimation by using the random volume over ground model (RVoG).

A New Hydroclimatic Signature: Negative NAO Dominance Under Weak La Niña Conditions During the 2025–2026 Northwest Africa Floods

open access: yesInternational Journal of Climatology, EarlyView.
Conceptual hydroclimatic pathway linking the concurrent negative North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO) phase and weak La Niña conditions to extreme February rainfall and flash flooding in Northwest Africa. ABSTRACT The winter of 2025–2026 in Morocco exhibited a rapid hydroclimatic transition from prolonged drought to widespread flooding, representing an ...

Deriving Wave Height Using Image Shadow Feature and Extracted Principal Component

open access: yesInformation
Benefiting from the merit of independent calibration without external reference, the shadow feature is investigated to retrieve wave steepness and wave height from X-band marine radar images. However, the wave period is currently required.

ERA5 Can Overstate Changes in the Frequency of Extreme Heat: A New Zealand Case Study

open access: yesInternational Journal of Climatology, EarlyView.
ERA5 reproduces broad patterns of summer warming across New Zealand but underestimates temperature variability and warm‐tail extremes, biasing estimates of extreme heat risk. ABSTRACT Summertime temperature extremes exert profound impacts on human health, ecosystems, and infrastructure, yet their characteristics and drivers remain poorly quantified in ...

Detecting bird movements with L‐band avian radar and S‐band dual‐polarization Doppler weather radar

open access: yesRemote Sensing in Ecology and Conservation, 2019
Marine surveillance radars with X‐band (3‐cm) and S‐band (10‐cm) wavelengths not only detect birds but also record return from insects, rain, ground objects and rough seas that often make discrimination of echoes from birds difficult.

High-Isolation X-Band Marine Radar Antenna Design

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, 2014
This paper presents a high-isolation printed antenna array for marine radar applications. The antenna array is composed of 32 identical square microstrip patches operated at a center frequency of 9.35 GHz and includes a 100-MHz bandwidth (subject to a 1.5:1 voltage standing wave ratio [VSWR]). The patch antennas are arranged in four arms, each of which

A Sequential One‐Pot Block Copolymer Synthesis: Toward Mesoporous Carbon Materials for Selective CO2 Adsorption

open access: yesMacromolecular Rapid Communications, EarlyView.
A sequential one‐pot photo‐iniferter RAFT method greatly simplifies the synthesis of PAN‐based block copolymers, offering quick access to hierarchically porous, N‐doped carbon membranes. This scalable and reliable process allows for easy fabrication of functional materials important for carbon capture applications.

Precipitation Induced Signatures in SAR Images [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Active microwave SAR imaging of the Earth’s surface is commonly considered to be of all weather capability. However, as the operating frequencies of SAR-systems are increasing, visible image distortions due to heavy precipitation in SAR-images are ...

X-band Extinction in Boreal Forest: Estimation by Using E-SAR PolInSAR and HUTSCAT [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
In this paper we study the extinction coefficient of boreal forest by utilizing airborne E-SAR X-band POLInSAR and HUTSCAT X band profiling scatterometer measurements.
