Frequency Distribution Supporting Recognition of Unnatural Patterns on Shewhart X-bar Chart
2001This paper describes a method supporting recognition of unnatural patterns on a Shewhart X chart by analysis of its frequency distribution. It has been implemented as a program that simulates data from a statistically controlled process as well as from a process affected by patterns.

Optimum evaluation performance of adaptive X-bar control charts
Journal of Industrial and Production Engineering, 2021Control charts are useful tools to regulate processes. Thereby the quality of products and services is enhanced which makes them more attractive to the customers.

This paper proposes a new control chart, denoted by , for evaluating the stability of a process mean, which is based on attribute inspection. In the control chart, the mean of the quality characteristic of interest is controlled by a go-no-go gauge ...

Tutorial on Risk Adjusted X-Bar Charts
Quality Management in Health Care, 2001Two data elements are needed for constructing a risk-adjusted X-bar chart. They are a continuous observed outcome collected over time across a sample of patients, and an expected outcome for each patient. The authors selected blood glucose levels to reflect diabetes control.

Supplementary run‐rules have been used since the 1950s to improve the performance of the basic Shewhart X¯$\bar{X}$ control chart. A procedure known as Klein's 2‐of‐2, a simple and efficient supplementary rule, signals that the process is out‐of‐control ...

Robust economic-statistical design of X-bar control chart
International Journal of Production Research, 2015Control charts are developed to monitor the service and production processes. The fact that many processes have uncertain parameters is a barrier to obtain the best design of the control charts. In this paper, economic statistical design (ESD) of the X-bar control chart utilising robust optimisation approach that considers interval estimates of ...

Grey relation pattern recogniser for X-bar control charts
International Journal of Manufacturing Technology and Management, 2000This paper has developed an on-line pattern recogniser to detect unnatural patterns on control charts. The recogniser can assist in the correction of assignable causes. The recogniser presented here is based on the grey relation model which is used to calculate the degree of relative similarity between observations routinely collected from X-bar charts
