Thickness‐Dependent Skyrmion Evolution in Fe3GeTe2 During Magnetization Reversal

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Thickness‐ and field‐dependent magnetic domain behavior in 2D van der Waals Fe3GeTe2 is studied using Lorentz TEM and micromagnetic simulations. A patch‐like domain phase evolves from skyrmions during magnetization reversal, and step edges between thickness regions act as pinning sites.

X-Ray Astronomy Satellite Ginga [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Astronomical Union Colloquium, 1988
AbstractThe X-ray astronomy satellite Ginga carries three scientific instruments, the Large Area proportional Counters (LAC), All Sky X-ray Monitor (ASM) and Gamma-ray Burst Detector (GBD). The LAC is the main instrument with an effective area of 4000 cm2 giving it the highest sensitivity to hard X-rays so far achieved. Ginga observed about 250 targets

Spectrally Tunable 2D Material‐Based Infrared Photodetectors for Intelligent Optoelectronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Intelligent optoelectronics through spectral engineering of 2D material‐based infrared photodetectors. Abstract The evolution of intelligent optoelectronic systems is driven by artificial intelligence (AI). However, their practical realization hinges on the ability to dynamically capture and process optical signals across a broad infrared (IR) spectrum.

Impact of Lattice Heterogeneity on Broadband Optical Retardation in Stacked 2D Perovskite Single Crystals

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
It is shown that interfaces between organic and inorganic layers govern long‐range stacking disorder and in‐plane anisotropy in 2D metal‐halide perovskites. By comparing single‐cation AB‐AB and ordered mixed‐cation ABCD‐ABCD stackings, SCXRD reveals enhanced mosaicity, while optics confirm high birefringence.

Geometry‐Dependent Adhesion in Transparent Monodomain Liquid Crystal Elastomers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Liquid Crystal Elastomers (LCEs) are emerging as exciting pressure‐sensitive adhesives. We examine adhesion in chemically identical elastomer films, exploring the influence of geometry (director orientation) and phase (nematic or isotropic). We demonstrate the potential of these aligned films as transparent, tunable, broad‐temperature‐range smart ...

X-ray emission from O-type stars : DH Cep and HD 97434

open access: yes, 2010
We present X-ray emission characteristics of the massive O-type stars DH Cep and HD 97434 using archival XMM-Newton observations. There is no convincing evidence for short term variability in the X-ray intensity during the observations.

X-ray astronomy [PDF]

open access: yes
Various experiments in X-ray astronomy are described. The occurrence of lunar occultations of the Crab Nebula were utilized to determine the spatial distribution of X-ray emitting regions in the nebula.

Heavily obscured AGN in the local Universe

open access: yes, 2009
We present here a new powerful diagnostic plot to select heavily obscured AGN in the local universe by combining infrared (Spitzer, IRAS) and X-ray (XMM) information.

Multipurpose Transparent Nanocomposites for Gamma Spectroscopy, Pulse Shape Discrimination, Thermal Neutron Detection, Radiation Shielding, and High Refractive Index Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Materials exist that are useful for gamma scintillation, radiation shielding, neutron‐gamma pulse shape discrimination (PSD), thermal neutron detection, or high refractive index applications. While certain materials have exhibited optimal performance for each of these applications, none achieve multiple functions.
