Time-Resolved Ultraviolet Observations of the Globular Cluster X-ray Source in NGC 6624: The Shortest Known Period Binary System

open access: yes, 1997
Using the Faint Object Spectrograph (FOS) aboard the Hubble Space Telescope, we have obtained the first time-resolved spectra of the King et al. ultraviolet-bright counterpart to the 11-minute binary X-ray source in the core of the globular cluster NGC ...

A Programmable Semiconductor Containing Active Molecular Photoswitches Located in the Crystal's Volume Phase

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A novel approach for the design of functional semiconductors is presented, which utilizes the excellent optoelectronic properties of layered hybrid perovskites and the possibility to introduce a molecular photoswitch as the organic spacer. This concept is successfully demonstrated on a coumarin‐based system with the possibility to change the bandgap ...

Detection of Multiple X-Ray Quasi-periodic Oscillations in IGR J19294+1816 with Insight-HXMT

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We report the timing results with Insight-HXMT observations of X-ray binary IGR J19294+1816 during its 2019 type I outburst at the decline phase shortly following its peak.

The Be X-ray Binary Outburst Zoo

open access: yes, 2013
Be X-ray binaries are among the best known transient high-energy sources. Their outbursts are commonly classified into a simple scheme of 'normal' and 'giant' outbursts, but a closer look shows that actual outbursts do not always follow this simple ...

Radio Emitting X-ray Binary Stars [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Astronomical Union Colloquium, 1996
Some of the most astrophysically interesting objects are found among the radio-emitting X-ray binary stars (REXRB). The class includes the well-studied objects such as SS 433, Cyg X-3 and Sco X-1. The recent discoveries of relativistic ejection of radio knots in the X-ray transients 1915+105 (Mirabel & Rodriguez 1994) and 1655–40 (Hjellming & ...

Near‐Infrared Light‐Programmable Negative Differential Transconductance in Organic Electrochemical Transistors for Reconfigurable Logic

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Organic electrochemical transistors based on a Near‐Infrared (NIR)‐responsive polymer p(C4DPP‐T) and iodide electrolyte exhibit optically programmable negative differential transconductance. NIR illumination triggers an iodine‐mediated redox process, enabling a transition from binary to ternary conductance states within a single‐layer device.

Detection of Oscillations in a Type I X-Ray Burst of 4U 0614+091 with SVOM/ECLAIRs

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters
On 2025 January 10, a thermonuclear (Type I) X-ray burst from the neutron star low-mass X-ray binary (LMXB) 4U 0614+091 was detected with the ECLAIRs instrument on board the Space-based multiband astronomical Variable Object Monitor mission.

Formation of ultra-compact X-ray binaries through circum-binary disk-driven mass transfer

open access: yes, 2009
The formation of ultra-compact X-ray binaries (UCXBs) has not been well understood. Previous works show that ultra-short orbital periods ($
