X-Ray and UV Orbital Phase Dependence in LMC X-3 [PDF]
The black-hole binary LMC X-3 is known to be variable on time scales of days to years. We investigate X-ray and ultraviolet variability in the system as a function of the 1.7 day binary phase using a 6.4 day observation with the Rossi X-ray Timing ...

Elemental Abundances in X-Ray Binary Outflows
Line-resolved X-ray spectra of outflows from X-ray binaries are interesting since they provide quantifiable measures of the accreted material onto the compact object (black hole or neutron star), which can not be observed directly in the accretion disk ...

Observation of soft X-rays from cosmic sources [PDF]
A binary X-ray source, an extended extragalactic X-ray source and several nearby stars were surveyed for X-ray emission. The energy spectrum and time structure of X-ray flux from the binary source, Her X-l, was investigated in the range from 0.15 to 6 ...

X-Ray Polarimetry as a Tool to Constrain Orbital Parameters in X-Ray Binaries
X-ray binary systems consist of a companion star and a compact object in close orbit. Thanks to their copious X-ray emission, these objects have been studied in detail using X-ray spectroscopy and timing.

Possible 38 day X-ray period of KS1731-260 [PDF]
We report the detection of a 38 day period in the X-ray flux of the transient burster KS1731-260. The narrow peak of periodicity was detected during ~TJD 10150--11050 when the source had a high and relatively stable X-ray flux.

A review of basic properties of Be/X-ray binaries is presented. These systems (called also hard X-ray transients), which form the most numerous class of massive X-ray binaries in the Galaxy, are composed of Be stars and neutron stars (X-ray pulsars) on wide (orbital periods 17-263 d), usually eccentric (eccentricities 0.1-0.9) orbits.

Swift J1727.8–1613 is a black hole X-ray binary newly discovered in 2023. We perform spectral analysis with simultaneous Insight-HXMT, NICER, and NuSTAR observations when the source was approaching the hard intermediate state.

Chandra HETG Observations of the Colliding Stellar Wind System WR 147
We present an extended analysis of deep Chandra HETG observations of the WR+OB binary system WR 147 that was resolved into a double X-ray source (Zhekov & Park, 2010, ApJ, 709, L119). Our analysis of the profiles of strong emission lines shows that their

Chandra Observations of WR147 Reveal a Double X-ray Source
We report the first results from deep X-ray observations of the Wolf-Rayet binary system WR147 with the Chandra HETG. Analysis of the zeroth order data reveals that WR147 is a double X-ray source.

Accretion flows in X–ray binaries
I review the X-ray observations of Galactic accreting black holes and neutron stars, and interpretions of these in terms of solutions of the accretion flow equations.
