On the displacement of X-ray binaries from star clusters in star-burst galaxies

open access: yes, 2010
We have modeled the displacement of luminous X-ray binaries from star clusters in star-burst galaxies with an evolutionary population synthesis code developed by Hurley et al. (2000, 2002). In agreement with Kaaret et al.

Exploring Electronic States and Ultrafast Electron Dynamics in AlInP Window Layers: The Role of Surface Reconstruction

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study examines the surface characteristics of AlInP (001), crucial for advanced solar cells and photoelectrochemical devices. Using theoretical modeling and experiments, it identifies how phosphorus‐rich and indium‐rich surfaces create mid‐gap states that pin the Fermi level and influence ultrafast electron dynamics.

X-ray binaries and star formation at high redshifts

open access: yes, 2021
X-Ray Binaries (XRBs) are binary systems in which the primary star is a compact object (black hole or neutron star) that accretes material from its companion, emitting copious amounts of X-rays in the process. These binaries are key in studying primordial star formation. XRBs are generally subdivided into binaries according to the mass of the secondary

Ideal Molecular Sieving with a Dense MOF for Helium Upgrading with Highly Diffusion Selective Mixed Matrix Membranes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The separation of Helium gas from natural gas is challenging but highly important. MIL‐116(Ga), a “non‐porous” metal–organic framework is used as a molecular sieve to separate He from CH4. Druse‐like MIL‐116(Ga) particles are integrated into polysulfone mixed matrix membranes.

X-Ray Polarization Study of the Neutron Star Low-mass X-Ray Binary GX 349+2

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We report the first X-ray polarimetric results of the neutron star (NS) low-mass X-ray binary Z-source GX 349+2 using the Imaging X-ray Polarimetry Explorer (IXPE). We discovered that the X-ray source was polarized at a polarization degree of PD = 1.1% ±

Contact binary stars. I - an X-ray survey

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 1984
X-ray emission from a contact binary star was first detected by the HEAO 1 satellite in 1977. Spectroscopic observations of 44i Boo and VW Cep by IUE established the presence of high-temperature chromospheric and transition region emission lines in the spectra of these stars.

Solution‐Processable and Ambient‐Stable Highly Conductive p‐Type Polymers Derived from Dihydropyrazine and Ethylenedioxythiophene

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work presents π–conjugated polymers based on dihydropyrazine (DHP) and ethylenedioxythiophene (EDOT), developed to produce highly conductive, flexible films for printed electronics. By optimizing the DHP and EDOT ratio, strong and compact π–π stacking is achieved, resulting in polymer films with conductivities up to 1700 S cm−1 under ambient ...

High‐Entropy Liquid Metal Process for Transparent Ultrathin p‐Type Gallium Oxide

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work introduces a doping strategy for harvesting ultrathin Ga oxide layers using a multi‐elemental Ga‐based liquid metal alloy. The incorporation of trivalent In metal into the self‐limiting oxide formed on the alloy's surface is enabled by the existence of atomically dispersed Pt, Au, and Pd.

Chasing the Break: Tracing the Full Evolution of a Black Hole X-Ray Binary Jet with Multiwavelength Spectral Modeling

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Black hole (BH) X-ray binaries (XRBs) are ideal targets to study the connection between accretion inflow and jet outflow. Here we present quasi-simultaneous, multiwavelength observations of the Galactic BH system MAXI J1820+070, throughout its 2018–2019 ...
