Evaluation of dosimetric and spatial accuracy of a virtual cone technique for radiosurgery using linac‐integrated CBCT‐based polymer gel dosimetry

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose This study evaluates the dosimetric and geometric precision of a virtual cone technique using CBCT‐based polymer gel dosimetry, enabling radiation delivery, and imaging readout within an identical spatial coordinate system. Methods We created a C# script for a virtual cone technique that generates a treatment plan with 10 gantry arcs ...

Supervised Reconstruction for Silhouette Tomography [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
In this paper, we introduce silhouette tomography, a novel formulation of X-ray computed tomography that relies only on the geometry of the imaging system. We formulate silhouette tomography mathematically and provide a simple method for obtaining a particular solution to the problem, assuming that any solution exists.

Evaluation of the system accuracy of frameless stereotactic radiosurgery using a combination of cone beam CT, six degrees of freedom couch, and surface image‐guided systems

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose This study aims to evaluate the accuracy of the frameless linear accelerator‐based stereotactic radiosurgery (FSRS) system incorporating cone‐beam CT (CBCT), six degrees of freedom (6‐DoF) couch, room laser, and surface image‐guided (SG) systems.

Fast, automated optimization of virtual monoenergetic images with the dual‐energy image synthesizer for cone‐beam CT

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Dual‐energy cone‐beam CT (DE‐CBCT) has become subject of recent interest due to the ability to produce virtual monoenergetic images (VMIs) with improved soft‐tissue contrast and reduced nonuniformity artifacts. However, efficient production and optimization of VMIs remains an under‐explored part of DE‐CBCT's application.

CdZnTe:Cl crystals for X-ray computer tomography detectors [PDF]

open access: yesphys. stat. sol. (b) 229, No. 2, 1073-1076 (2002), 2007
Processes of growth of semi-insulating Cd(1-x)Zn(x)Te:Cl crystals (x = 0.0002 and 0.1) of n-type conductivity are investigated. From the grown crystals detectors for X-ray computer tomography with small value of photocurrent memory (afterglow) (0.1-0.3%) are obtained.

Shielding resources for four common radiopharmaceuticals utilized for imaging and therapy: Tc‐99m, F‐18, I‐131, and Lu‐177

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Introduction The use of radioactive materials in the United States has been tightly regulated by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and other entities for many decades. In 2015, however, the Joint Commission began to require hospital‐based nuclear medicine departments to conduct shielding designs and evaluations for radioactive material areas ...
