The effects of scatter in x‐ray computed tomography

Medical Physics, 1982
The effects of detection of scattered radiation in x‐ray transmission CT are studied both theoretically and experimentally. It is shown that scatter induces nonlinear errors in the measurement of attenuation values which can lead to cupping, streaks, and CT number inaccuracies.

Evaluation of porosity effects on the mechanical properties of carbon fiber-reinforced plastic unidirectional laminates by X-ray computed tomography and mechanical testing

, 2016
The effects of porosity on the matrix-dominated mechanical properties of unidirectional carbon fiber-reinforced plastic composites were evaluated using X-ray computed tomography and mechanical testing.

X-Ray Computed Tomography

2000
X-ray computed tomography (CT) is still a workhorse of neuroimaging despite the significant contributions to neurodiagnosis made by newer technologies such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), positron emission tomography (PET), and single proton emission CT (SPECT). Within only a few years of its introduction in 1972, by Geoffrey N.

Industrial Applications of X-Ray Computed Tomography

Advances in X-ray Analysis, 1987
Computed tomography (CT), commonly known as CAT scanning (computerized axial tomography), is a technology that produces an image of the internaI structure of a cross sectional slice through an object via the reconstruction of a matrix of X-ray attenuation coefficients.

Dynamic X-ray computed tomography

Proceedings of the IEEE, 2003
Dynamic computed tomography (CT) imaging aims at reconstructing image sequences where the dynamic nature of the living human body is of primary interest. The main applications concerned are image-guided interventional procedures, functional studies and cardiac imaging.

Aggregate Morphological Characterization with 3D Optical Scanner versus X-Ray Computed Tomography

, 2018
In quantifying the morphological features of aggregate, X-ray computed tomography (CT) is one of the most popularly used approaches for capturing aggregate images that is considered accurat...

X-ray computed tomography of the cardiovascular system

Current Problems in Cardiology, 1991
X-ray CT of the heart is an evolving field. The ultrafast CT scanner provides a practical method of applying the high spatial resolution, high density resolution, and tomographic capabilities of conventional CT scanning, permitting an evaluation of the cardiovascular system.
