Epitaxial silicon carbide for X-ray detection
IEEE Transactions on Nuclear Science, 2001We present the first experimental results of X-ray detection and spectroscopy by means of Schottky junctions on epitaxial silicon carbide (SiC). The devices have a junction area of 3 mm/sup 2/ on an n-type 4H-SiC layer 30 /spl mu/m thick with a dopant concentration of 1.8/spl times/10 cm at 300 K, the reverse current density of the best device varies ...

Calorimetric Detection of X-Rays
Journal of Low Temperature Physics, 2001During the past 15 years a broad range of cryogenic particle detectors have been developed primarily for use in astro-particle physics, nuclear physics and material science. Among these, calorimetric detectors play an important role. In particular, micro calorimeters have proven to be a suitable tool for the detection of x-rays.

Information optimal Compressive X-ray Threat Detection
Imaging and Applied Optics 2015, 2015We present a scalable information theoretic multiplex measurement design framework for X-ray based threat detection. Our simulation results show nearly two-orders of magnitude improvement in threat detection performance relative to non-multiplex measurement design.

Detection Units for X-Ray Radiation
IEEE Transactions on Nuclear Science, 1975Units for the detection of X-ray radiation are described. Each unit consists of a multiproportional counter detector, a gas supply system and accompanying electronics, including an automatic gas gain - stabilization circuit. In the units detectors filled with Ne/CO2 as well as Ar/CO2 gas mixtures are being used.
