X-ray colour imaging [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of The Royal Society Interface, 2007
A prototype X-ray colour imaging system has been assembled using the principle of tomographic energy-dispersive diffraction imaging (TEDDI). The new system has been tested using samples of nylon-6, aluminium powder and deer antler bone. Non-destructive three-dimensional images of the test objects have been reconstructed on a 300 μm scale with an ...

Unusual x ray image [PDF]

open access: yesArchives of Disease in Childhood, 2007
This is the x ray of a 2½-month-old boy who presented with a 2-week history of cough and recent onset of breathlessness and decreased feeding. He had no previous illnesses and his ante-natal scans were normal. Soon after admission, he developed an oxygen requirement of 0.75 l/min. He was pale and feverish with …

Imaging diamonds with X-rays [PDF]

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section A Foundations of Crystallography, 2009
The various techniques for imaging diamonds with x-rays are discussed: x-radiography, x-ray phase-contrast imaging, x-ray topography, x-ray reciprocal-space mapping, x-ray microscopy; together with the characterization of the crystal defects which these techniques reveal.

Microstructural evolution during sintering of copper particles studied by laboratory diffraction contrast tomography (LabDCT)

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
Pressureless sintering of loose or compacted granular bodies at elevated temperature occurs by a combination of particle rearrangement, rotation, local deformation and diffusion, and grain growth.

Time Resolved Two Dimensional X-Ray Densitometry of a Two Phase Flow Downstream of a Ventilated Cavity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
To measure the void fraction distribution in gas-liquid flows, a two-dimensional x-ray densitometry system was developed. This system is capable of acquiring a two-dimensional projection with a 225 cm2 area of measurement through 21 cm of water.

Experimental X-Ray Ghost Imaging [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2016
We report an experimental proof of principle for ghost imaging in the hard x-ray energy range. We used a synchrotron x-ray beam that was split using a thin crystal in Laue diffraction geometry. With an ultra-fast imaging camera, we were able to image x-rays generated by isolated electron bunches.

Diagnosing and mapping pulmonary emphysema on X-ray projection images [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
To assess whether grating-based X-ray dark-field imaging can increase the sensitivity of X-ray projection images in the diagnosis of pulmonary emphysema and allow for a more accurate assessment of emphysema distribution.

X-ray characterization of the Icarus ultrafast x-ray imager

open access: yesReview of Scientific Instruments, 2020
Ultrafast x-ray imagers developed at Sandia National Laboratories are a transformative diagnostic tool in inertial confinement fusion and high energy density physics experiments. The nanosecond time scales on which these devices operate are a regime with little precedent, and applicable characterization procedures are still developing.

The PERCIVAL soft X-ray imager [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Instrumentation, 2014
With the increased brilliance of state-of-the-art Synchrotron radiation sources and the advent of Free Electron Lasers enabling revolutionary science with EUV to X-ray photons comes an urgent need for suitable photon imaging detectors. Requirements include high frame rates, very large dynamic range, single-photon counting capability with low ...
