Quantifying Subsurface Weak in‐Plane Magnetization of Mixed Phase BiFeO3 by Scanning Nitrogen Vacancy Magnetometry

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We use scanning nitrogen vacancy magnetometry to directly image the weak in‐plane magnetic moments in mixed phase BiFeO3 at the nanoscale and quantify the local magnetic moments to be 18.8±2.0 μB/nm2 in the rhombohedral‐like phase and 1.5±0.6 μB/nm2 in the well‐known non‐magnetic tetragonal‐like phase.

Phase Evolution Kinetics in Additive‐Free 19.75% Organic Photovoltaics Empowered by Solvent Vapor Annealing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Solvent vapor annealing enables kinetic control of additive‐free morphology in organic solar cells. Selective plasticization of acceptor forms an optimal fibrillar network, boosting efficiency to 19.06% (binary) and 19.75% (ternary), with ultrafast exciton dissociation and reduced recombination.

Clusterization‐Triggered Emission from Cellulose‐Based Luminophores in Dilute Aqueous Solution through Imine Formation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Clusterization‐triggered emission is realized in dilute aqueous solution by introducing imine linkages into cellulose‐based luminophores. Imine functionalization creates O/N‐rich, hydrogen‐bonded clustered microenvironments that stabilize emissive states and restrict molecular motions. Luminescence is tunable by amine type and multiplicity.

Luminescence properties of Europium and Terbium doubly activated yttrium Niobium/ Tantalate Phosphors under X-ray excitation

open access: yesMoldavian Journal of the Physical Sciences, 2009
Yttrium tantalate, yttrium niobium-tantalate, and yttrium niobate doubly doped by Eu3 and Tb3 were investigated using X-ray diffraction and X-ray excitation luminescence in order to study their structural and luminescent properties. By means of X-ray

A Bayesian analysis of luminescence dating [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Luminescence dating is a widespread dating method used in the fields of archaeology and Quaternary science. As an experimental method it is subject to various uncertainties in the determination of parameters that are used to evaluate age.

Water Permeates and Plasticizes Amorphous Carbon Dots: Unraveling the Inner Accessibility of the Nanoparticles by Glass Transition Studies

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The water permeability of amorphous carbon dots (CDs) is demonstrated by investigating their plasticization. Novel polyamide‐based and amorphous nanoparticles are synthesized by controlling their inner packing density. Water plasticization is evidenced by the decrease of the CDs glass transition temperature with increasing the hydration degree.

β-Ga2O3:Cr nanowires with optical microcavities for determining local heating induced by x-ray nanobeams

open access: yesAPL Materials
This study explores the x-ray excited optical luminescence (XEOL) of optical microcavities fabricated in β-Ga2O3:Cr nanowires (NWs). XEOL measurements reveal prominent luminescence bands in the near ultraviolet-blue (NUV-B) and in the red-near infrared ...

Stimulated luminescence properties of natural alexandrite in response to X-ray irradiation [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper reports for the first time the in-depth study of thermoluminescence (TL) and optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) of Brazilian alexandrite pellets (BeAl2O4: Cr3+) previously exposed to X-rays. Firstly, structural and composition analysis of
