On the kinetics of X-ray induced luminescence in natural quartz

Physica Status Solidi A, 1985
The temperature dependence of the luminescence of natural quartz induced by X-rays between 80 and 800 K is investigated. Using afterglow investigations, the temperature dependence of the low temperature luminescence is chiefly given by an activator level lying 60 meV above the valence band and on the other hand by nonradiative transitions of electrons ...

Investigation of the Effect of Radiation and High-Temperature Treatment on the x-Ray Luminescence of Quartz Glasses

Atomic Energy, 2001
The x-ray luminescence of KI, KV, and KU-1 quartz glasses, irradiated with γ and n–γ radiation in the dose range 102–107 Gy and neutron fluence range 1015–1017 cm–2 and subjected to high-temperature annealing in air at 450 and 900°C is investigated. It is shown that the spectra of the nonirradiated and the γ and n–γ irradiated glasses of the first two ...

Temperature dependence of the X-ray induced luminescence of quartz crystals

Journal of Luminescence, 1991
Abstract The X-ray induced luminescence (RL) of synthetic electronic grade quartz crystals was found to emit at 2.4, 2.8 and 3.2 eV. Drops in the intensity of the RL were observed under suitable conditions of excitation at 100–150, 150–200, 200−270 and 350–450 K (stages I to IV respectively).
