Neurovascular Contacts in the Pathophysiology of Neuralgic Amyotrophy: An Observational Study

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Neuralgic amyotrophy (NA) is a prevalent, monophasic, multifocal immune‐mediated neuropathy. A distinctive characteristic of the disease is the occurrence of nerve or fascicle constrictions and torsions (NA‐associated focal nerve lesions, NAFL). The pathophysiology underlying this phenomenon remains to be fully elucidated.

Studies on the compound lipids from X-ray irradiated animal,2.

open access: yes, 1962
For the purpose to clarify the causes of X-ray disturbances a series of experiments have been conducted on biological and biochemical properties of compound lipids extracted from normal and X-ray irradiated rabbit organs with a special reference to the ...

Long‐Term Efficacy of Immunotherapy in Autoimmune Autonomic Ganglionopathy—A 10‐Year Follow Up Study

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Autoimmune autonomic ganglionopathy (AAG) is a rare but potentially treatable cause of severe autonomic failure. Evidence guiding long‐term immunotherapy, treatment sequencing, and residual autonomic impairment is limited. We evaluated long‐term treatment response, residual autonomic dysfunction, and relapse patterns in patients with

Scanning x-ray microscopy based on MEMS technology

open access: yes
Scanning an x-ray nanobeam instead of the sample can be highly advantageous in experimental scenarios where a fast sample movement is not possible, such as in-situ measurements.

Does Long‐Term Lower Extremity Strength Training in Adults With Knee Osteoarthritis and Varus Alignment Reduce Knee Joint Loading During Gait?

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective We examined whether 18 months of strength training in individuals with knee varus alignment and medial tibiofemoral osteoarthritis (OA) reduced knee joint loads during walking compared to an attention control group. Methods This study was a secondary analysis of a randomized clinical trial that compared the effects of strength training to a ...

View synthesis for kinetic depth X-ray imaging

open access: yes, 2012
This thesis reports the development and analysis of feature based synthesis of transmission X-ray images. The synthetic imagery is formed through matching and morphing or warping line-scan format images produced by a novel multi-view X-ray machine.

Triangular Index Ratio as an Alternative Method to the Alpha Angle for Defining the Presence of Cam Morphology: A Prospective Cohort Study

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Cam morphology, which is a significant risk factor for hip osteoarthritis, is commonly quantified by the alpha angle (AA). This study aims to explore the potential of the triangular index ratio (TIR) to quantify cam morphology on anteroposterior radiographs by assessing the association between TIR‐defined cam morphology and the development of

Phase contrast imaging with a laboratory-based microfocus X-ray source [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
This project looks at the design of an in-line X-ray phase contrast imaging system, based around the Bede Microsource®, on a suitable scale for imaging small pathological samples. The system is applied to two test objects to assess feasibility of its use

Evaluation of preconcentration methods for the determination of trace amounts of rare earth elements by x-ray fluorescence analysis using a conventional x-ray tube system and a synchrotron radiation source

open access: yes, 2015
Trace amounts of rare earth elements (REE) were preconcentrated by chemofiltration methods using the organic reagents o-(3,6-disulfo-2-hydroxy-1-naphthylazo)benzenearsonic acid (Thorin) and 2,2 '-(1,8-dihydroxy-3,6-disulfonaphthylene-2,7-bisazo ...

Accelerated X-ray Structure Elucidation of a 36 kDa Muramidase/Transglycosylase Using wARP [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
The X-ray structure of the 36kDa soluble lytic transglycosylase from Escherichia coli has been determined starting with the multiple isomorphous replacement method with inclusion of anomalous scattering at 2.7 Å resolution. Subsequently, before any model
