Development of Quantitative X-Ray Microtomography

MRS Proceedings, 1990
ABSTRACTWe have developed several x-ray microtomography systems which function as quantitative three dimensional x-ray microscopes. In this paper we describe the evolutionary path followed from making the first high resolution experimental microscopes to later generations which can be routinely used for investigating materials.

X-ray energy optimisation in computed microtomography

Physics in Medicine and Biology, 1989
Expressions describing the absorbed dose and the number of incident photons necessary for the detection of a contrasting detail in x-ray transmission CT imaging of a circular phantom are derived as functions of the linear attenuation coefficients of the materials comprising the object and the detail.

X-ray fluorescence and X-ray transmission microtomography imaging system

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment, 2007
Abstract An X-ray Transmission Microtomography (CT) system combined with an X-ray Fluorescence Microtomography (XRFCT) system was implemented in the Brazilian Synchrotron Light Source (LNLS), Campinas, Brazil. The main aim of this work is to determine the elemental and absorption distribution map in breast tissue samples.

X-ray Microtomography with Synchrotron Radiation

SPIE Proceedings, 1986
High resolution x-ray microtomography has been established at the synchrotron radiation source at Daresbury Laboratory, U.K. A high precision mechanical stage with two translational and one rotational degree of freedom has been constructed, and fully characterised by mechanical metrology; overall precision is better than 0.5 μm.

Chapter 8 X-ray microtomography

1996
Publisher Summary A Synchrotron radiation-computerized tomography (SR-CT) developed for high spatial resolution and elemental analysis of industrial materials—that is, microtomography, has been reported. This is followed by similar CT scanners, so that currently an SR-CT of 10 μm spatial resolution has been realized.

X-RAY COMPUTED MICROTOMOGRAPHY OF RUBBER

Rubber Chemistry and Technology, 2012
ABSTRACT In rubber science, X-ray computed microtomography (micro CT) is becoming an increasingly used technique to characterize 3D microstructures. As a first step, experimental methods, limitations, and data analysis are described. A review of published micro CT studies for rubber is reported.

X-Ray Microtomography of Microcellular Polymers

Porous, Cellular and Microcellular Materials, 2000
Abstract Among modern measuring techniques, which are designed to reconstruct and to measure three-dimensional aspects of microstructure on mesoscopic scale lengths, the X-ray microtomography seems to be very well suited to yield this information. Generally, X-ray microtomography is the X-ray based non-destructive testing method that was
