Simulation of a Simple Wolter Telescope of Type I by Geant4 for Some Widely Used Materials [PDF]
At the present work, the reflection of X-rays from surfaces composed of silicon, gold, iridium, and nickel is simulated in the range of E ≤ 5 keV energy for the two cases, which includes raw mirror surfaces and a typical Wolter-I optics-based X-ray ...

Generation of short hard X-ray pulses of tailored duration using a M\"ossbauer source
We theoretically investigate a scheme for generations of single hard X-ray pulses of controllable duration in the range of 1 ns - 100 ns from a radioactive M\"ossbauer source.

In this study, we present the structure of AcrIE8.1, a previously uncharacterized anti‐CRISPR protein that inhibits the type I‐E CRISPR‐Cas system. Through a combination of structural and biochemical analyses, we demonstrate that AcrIE8.1 directly binds to the Cas11 subunit of the Cascade complex to inhibit the CRISPR‐Cas system.

Kirkpatrick Baez X-ray optics for astrophysics: Recent status [PDF]
X-ray optics in Kirkpatrick Baez arrangement represent promising alternative to Wolter optics in common use. We present briefly recent status of design, developments, and tests of this kind of X–ray optics including Kirkpatrick Baez module developed and ...

Screening for lung cancer: A systematic review of overdiagnosis and its implications
Low‐dose computed tomography (CT) screening for lung cancer may increase overdiagnosis compared to no screening, though the risk is likely low versus chest X‐ray. Our review of 8 trials (84 660 participants) shows added costs. Further research with strict adherence to modern nodule management strategies may help determine the extent to which ...

Broad-Band Soft X-ray Polarimetry
We developed an instrument design capable of measuring linear X-ray polarization over a broad-band using conventional spectroscopic optics. A set of multilayer-coated flats reflects the dispersed X-rays to the instrument detectors.

LDAcoop: Integrating non‐linear population dynamics into the analysis of clonogenic growth in vitro
Limiting dilution assays (LDAs) quantify clonogenic growth by seeding serial dilutions of cells and scoring wells for colony formation. The fraction of negative wells is plotted against cells seeded and analyzed using the non‐linear modeling of LDAcoop.

Time dependence of Bragg forward scattering and self-seeding of hard x-ray free-electron lasers [PDF]
Free-electron lasers (FELs) can now generate temporally short, high power x-ray pulses of unprecedented brightness, even though their longitudinal coherence is relatively poor.
