Monte Carlo modeling of radiation dose from radiation therapy with superficial x‐rays
Abstract Introduction Superficial x‐rays (50–100 kVp) are used for treating non‐melanoma skin cancer and intraoperative radiation therapy (IORT). At these energies, the photoelectric effect significantly increases absorbed dose to bone compared to soft tissue.

Fukui et al. quantified the hadronic and leptonic gamma-rays in the young TeV gamma-ray shell-type supernova remnant (SNR) RX J1713.7-3946 (RX J1713), and demonstrated that gamma rays are a combination of hadronic and leptonic gamma-ray components with a

Development of a generic focal spot measurement method suitable for bore‐type linacs
Abstract Purpose In linear accelerators, deviations in the x‐ray focal spot position significantly affect the accuracy of radiation therapy. However, as the focal spot position in bore‐type linac systems such as the Radixact system, cannot be assessed using conventional methods, a new evaluation method is required.

The ROSAT view of NGC 1365: core emission, the highly variable source NGC 1365--X1 and alignments of surrounding X-ray sources [PDF]
We present a spectral and spatial analysis of the nuclear and circumnuclear X-ray emission of the prominent southern starburst/Seyfert galaxy NGC 1365. To describe the X-ray spectrum of the core source, we favour a two-component model consisting of about equally strong contributions from a Raymond-Smith plasma (with ~cosmic abundances) and a powerlaw ...

Luminosity Evolution of the Hot Gas in Normal Galaxies from the Near Universe to z = 0.5
We explore the evolution of the ∼10 ^7 K hot gas in normal galaxies out to redshift = 0.5 (lookback time = 5 Gyr), using X-ray luminosity functions (XLFs) built from a sample of 575 normal galaxies with z < 0.6 detected in five high-galactic-latitude ...
