Negative Thermal Expansion in Metastable PbVO3: High‐Pressure Synthesis, Advances, and Perspectives

open access: yescMat, Volume 2, Issue 4, December 2025.
ABSTRACT Most materials expand on heating; however, some materials show the opposite trend, in which the overall volume contracts upon heating, a phenomenon known as negative thermal expansion (NTE). Materials exhibiting NTE are highly valued for their unique ability to tailor thermal expansion, especially in achieving zero thermal expansion when ...

Multiwavelength observation from radio through very-high-energy Gamma-ray of OJ 287 during the 12-year cycle flare in 2007

open access: yes, 2009
We performed simultaneous multiwavelength observations of OJ 287 with the Nobeyama Millimeter Array for radio, the KANATA telescope and the KVA telescope for optical, the Suzaku satellite for X-ray and the MAGIC telescope for very high energy (VHE) gamma-

A Small Pathbreaking Spacecraft: Giants of Space Research (Bernard Blake, Dieter Hovestadt, and Edward Stone)

open access: yesPerspectives of Earth and Space Scientists, Volume 6, Issue 1, December 2025.
Abstract The Solar, Anomalous, and Magnetospheric Explorer (SAMPEX) mission launched in July 1992 was the first NASA “Small Explorer” project. It had the goal to show how space missions could be developed much more rapidly than had become the situation in the 1980s and 1990s.

Multi-instrument Search for Gamma-Ray Counterpart of X-Ray Transients Detected by EP/WXT

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters
As a soft X-ray imager with an unprecedentedly large field of view, Einstein Probe (EP)/Wide-field X-ray Telescope (WXT) has detected many (fast) X-ray transients, whose nature is very intriguing.

Observation of the X-ray source Sco X-1 from Skylab [PDF]

open access: yes
An attempt to observe the discrete X-ray source Sco X-1 on 20 September 1973 between 0856 and 0920 UT is reported. Data obtained with the ATM/S-056 X-ray event analyzer, in particular the flux observed with the 1.71 to 4.96 KeV counter, is analyzed.

The Impact of the 2024 Mother's Day Storm on Aircraft Surveillance Across Europe

open access: yesSpace Weather, Volume 23, Issue 12, December 2025.
Abstract The Mother's day storm from 10–13 May 2024 is one of the most extreme space weather events recorded in recent decades and triggered a strong ionospheric response with various impacts on communication and navigation systems. In this study the impact on the aviation sector, and more specifically air traffic management, is investigated with ...
