HEW simulations and quantification of the microroughness requirements for X-ray telescopes by means of numerical and analytical methods [PDF]
Future X-ray telescopes like SIMBOL-X will operate in a wide band of the X-ray spectrum (from 0.1 to 80 keV); these telescopes will extend the optical performances of the existing soft X-ray telescopes to the hard X-ray band, and in particular they will be characterized by a angular resolution (conveniently expressed in terms of HEW, Half-Energy- Width)

In this investigation, we fabricated the PLLA (poly(L–lactic Acid)–based bimorph structures for piezoelectric minimotor applications. The PLLA bimorph minimotor showed the maximum load of 1.2 g and the maximum torque of 0.019 cN·m. Abstract Piezoelectric polymers have been widely used in a variety of applications, including tactile sensors, energy ...

Abstract Aim Greenland is one of the places on Earth where the effects of climate change are most evident. The retreat of sea ice has made East Greenland more accessible for longer periods during the year. East Greenland fjords have been notoriously difficult to study due to their remoteness, dense sea ice conditions and lack of infrastructure.

XMM-Newton (X-Ray Mulit-Mirror Mission) Observatory [PDF]
X-ray Multi-Mirror Mission (XMM-Newton) has been one of the most successful astronomy missions launched by the European Space Agency. It exploits innovative use of replication technology for the X-ray reflecting telescopes that has resulted in an unprecedented combination of effective area and resolution.

Optical module HEW simulations for the X-ray telescopes SIMBOL-X, EDGE and XEUS [PDF]
One of the most important parameters defining the angular resolution of an X-ray optical module is its Half-Energy Width (HEW) as a function of the photon energy. Future X-ray telescopes with imaging capabilities (SIMBOL-X, Constellation-X, NeXT, EDGE, XEUS,...) should be characterized by a very good angular resolution in soft (< 10 keV) and hard (> 10

The expandable devices were made up of titanium alloy. This technique overcomes discrepancy and reduces risk of invalid gears. Objective Survival and reconstruction in osteosarcoma is quite challenging. The study aimed to investigate the prognosis in patients treated with neoadjuvant chemotherapy and determine the clinical outcomes of expandable ...

Classification of Chandra X-Ray Sources in Cygnus OB2
We have devised a predominantly Naive Bayes−based method to classify X-ray sources detected by Chandra in the Cygnus OB2 association into members, foreground objects, and background objects.

InFOCμS Hard X-ray Imaging Telescope [PDF]
InFOCμS is a new generation balloon-borne hard X-ray telescope with focusing optics and spectroscopy. We had a successful 22.5-hour flight from Fort Sumner, NM on September 16,17, 2004. In this paper, we present the performance of the hard X-ray telescope, which consists of a depth-graded platinum/carbon multilayer mirror and a CdZnTe detector.
