Virtual Telescope for X-Ray Observations
Selected by NASA for an Astrophysics Science SmallSat study, The Virtual Telescope for X-Ray Observations (VTXO) is a small satellite mission being developed by NASAs Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) and New Mexico State University (NMSU). VTXO will perform X-ray observations with an angular resolution around 50 milliarcseconds, an order of magnitude

Photoredox autocatalysis is revealed to access cyclic biaryl sulfonamides (BASNs) without an initial exogenous photocatalyst. While unveiling photoredox autocatalysis is important to the enrichment of basic research, this has also led to further practical applications such as rapid discovery of novel, potent and readily accessible photocatalyst ...

Synchrotron Radiation from Outer Space and the Chandra X-Ray Observatory [PDF]
The universe provides numerous extremely interesting astrophysical sources of synchrotron X radiation. The Chandra X-ray Observatory and other X-ray missions provide powerful probes of these and other cosmic X-ray sources. Chandra is the X-ray component of NASA's Great Observatory Program which also includes the Hubble Space telescope, the Spitzer ...

Insight-HXMT Detections of Hard X-Ray Tails in Scorpius X-1
Using the observations of the high-energy detector of the Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope (Insight-HXMT) for Scorpius X-1 from 2017 to 2020, we search for hard X-ray tails in the X-ray spectra in ∼30–200 keV. The hard X-ray tails are found throughout the

Near‐Zero Thermal Expansion in Coordination Polymer Cd(1,2,4‐triazole)2(H2PO4)2
Zero thermal expansion is a rare but desirable physical property for materials. Here, we report an unprecedented near‐zero thermal expansion (nZTE) behavior in a two‐dimensional coordination polymer (CP) Cd(1,2,4‐triazole)2 (H2PO4)2 (Cd‐Tz) across a broad temperature range of 25 K ‐ 400 K.

Improving X-Ray Resolution with XOSS [PDF]
Improving angular resolution is one of X-ray astronomy's big challenges. While X-ray interferometry should eventually vastly improve broad-band angular resolution, in the near-term, X-ray telescopes will sacrifice angular resolution for increased collecting area and energy resolution.

Innovative space x-ray telescopes [PDF]
We report on the progress in innovative X-ray mirror development with focus on requirements of future X-ray astronomy space projects. Various future projects in X-ray astronomy and astrophysics will require large lightweight but highly accurate segments with multiple thin shells or foils. The large Wolter 1 grazing incidence multiple mirror arrays, the
