Deciphering the Morphological Origins of X-shaped Radio Galaxies: Numerical Modeling of Backflow versus Jet Reorientation

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Supplement Series, 2023
Abstract X-shaped radio galaxies (XRGs) develop when certain extragalactic jets deviate from their propagation path. An asymmetric ambient medium (backflow model) or complex active galactic nucleus activity (jet-reorientation model) enforcing the jet direction to deviate may cause these structures.

X-shaped radio galaxy 3C 315

open access: yesBOOK OF ABSTRACTS AND CONTRIBUTED PAPERS - International Meeting on Data for Atomic and Molecular Processes in Plasmas: Advances in Standards and Modelling
AbstractHere we want to investigate X-shaped radio galaxy 3C 315, which is a FRII source, but it lies very close to the FRI/FRII borderline. We used publicly available data from Leahy’s atlas of double radio-sources and NASA/IPAC Extragalactic Database (NED) in order to investigate its flux density, as well as the spectral index distribution.

Weak-lensing Analysis of the Complex Cluster Merger A746 with Subaru/Hyper Suprime-Cam

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
The galaxy cluster A746 ( z = 0.214), featuring a double radio relic system, two isolated radio relics, a possible radio halo, disturbed V-shaped X-ray emission, and intricate galaxy distributions, is a unique and complex merging system.

X-ray/Optical/Radio Observations of a Resolved Supernova Remnant in NGC 6822

open access: yes, 2004
The supernova remnant (SNR), Ho 12, in the center of the dwarf irregular galaxy NGC 6822 was previously observed at X-ray, optical, and radio wavelengths.

Discovery of an unusual radio galaxy with a hybrid double-double and X-shaped morphology [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the International Astronomical Union, 2012
AbstractWe report the discovery of the first ‘X’-shaped double-double radio galaxy (DDRG), MRC0929+164 (J0932+1611), from FIRST radio survey. The intersection angle of the lines of two pairs of radio lobes is around 20.6° for this object, much larger than other DDRGs.

Serendipitous Discovery of a Young Cluster of Galaxies at z ∼ 0.5 Projected Next to the Nearby Tadpole Galaxy KUG 1138 + 327

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Using a 90 ks Chandra ACIS-S observation in the 0.3–7 keV band, along with complementary Low-Frequency Array and Karl G. Jansky Very Large Array data in the 120–168 MHz and 1–2 GHz ranges, we study the diffuse emission around the nearby dwarf galaxy KUG ...

Discovery of the first giant double radio relic in a galaxy cluster found in the PLANCK Sunyaev-Zel'dovich cluster survey: PLCK G287.0+32.9

open access: yes, 2011
We report the discovery of large scale diffuse non-thermal radio emission in PLCK G287.0+32.9, an exceptionally hot (T ~ 13 keV), massive and luminous galaxy cluster, strongly detected by the PLANCK satellite in a recent, all-sky blind search for new ...
