Microstructure of X52 and X65 pipeline steels

open access: yesJournal of Materials Science, 1999
The microstructure of two commercial pipeline steels X52 and X65 was examined to provide a foundation for the understanding of the IGSCC mechanism of pipeline steels. Observation of the microstructure was carried out using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and an analytical electron microscope.

Effect of Plastic Deformation on Hydrogen Diffusion of X65 Pipeline Steel

open access: yesCORROSION 2014, 2014
Abstract The effect of plastic deformation was investigated on hydrogen permeation of cold rolled or tensile specimen of X65 pipeline steel. The diffusion coefficient of hydrogen was measured using three techniques: Subsequent Transients, Partial Transients and Desorption Technique.

Plastic deformation and fracture behavior of X65 pipeline steel: Experiments and modeling

Engineering Fracture Mechanics, 2018
Abstract In order to respond to the increasing demand of oil and gas, pipeline steel has been noticeably developed to enhance both efficiency and performance of fuel transportation. Hereby, metallurgical and mechanical properties of such steel have been continuously improved.

Boundary characterisation of X65 pipeline steel using analytical electron microscopy

open access: yesJournal of Materials Science, 1999
Analytical electron microscopy was used to characterise grain boundaries (GBs) and interphase boundaries (IBs) of X65 pipeline steel. There was no segregation of P or S at the proeutectoid ferrite GBs. This indicates that contrary to literature expectations, P and S are unlikely to be involved in the mechanism of SCC of pipeline steels.

Fatigue of stress corrosion cracks in X65 pipeline steels

International Journal of Fatigue, 2008
A section of gas pipeline containing stress corrosion cracking (SCC) was removed from service and pressure cycled. SCC cracks were shown to have extended by fatigue. Fatigue crack interaction was found to be a large factor in crack growth characteristics. Crack interaction was found to be influenced by original SCC crack inclination and layout. Fatigue

Corrosion behavior of X65 pipeline steel in coastal areas

Anti-Corrosion Methods and Materials, 2019
Purpose To study the corrosion behavior of pipeline steel in coastal areas, a tidal seawater macro-cell corrosion device was built using a cycle soaking tank and a macro-cell corrosion facility to simulate the corrosion behavior of pipeline steel in a simulated coastal environment (dry and wet alternations during seawater-soil corrosion macro-cell ...

Evaluation of Fracture Initiation Energy in API X65 Pipeline Steel

2008 7th International Pipeline Conference, Volume 3, 2008
In this paper, energy absorption characteristics of spiral welded gas pipeline steel are investigated under impact loading. Emphasise is given to energy consuming processes before fracture propagation in tested linepipe steel. The API X65 grade pipe was produced (by Sadid Pipe and Equipment Company) from thermo-mechanical controlled process (TMCP ...
