Strength–hardness statistical correlation in API X65 steel

Materials Science and Engineering: A, 2011
Abstract Accurate determination of pipe yield strength (as an indication of material resistance to plastic collapse) is of great importance to pipeline engineers. In this research, Vickers hardness data from 100 tested pipes (API X65) was used to derive strength–hardness statistical correlation.

Discrepancies of fatigue crack growth behaviour of API X65 steel

Journal of Mechanical Science and Technology, 2017
This paper discusses the fatigue life behaviour of the API X65 steel tested under constant amplitude loading in ambient temperature. The influence of repeated loading at a particular stress ratio would favour the initiation of fatigue cracks that would consequently affect the fatigue crack growth.

Effect of Multipass Severe Rolling Process in the API X65 Steel

Solid State Phenomena, 2007
In the API X65 steel, effects of rolling and cooling conditions on microstructure and mechanical properties were studied. In the case of accelerated cooling after multi-pass rolling in the high/low unrecrystallized range, the tensile strength was 574-670 MPa and the impact toughness was 74-109 J.

Development of Offshore X65/70 Steels for Deep Water Application

Volume 3: Materials and Joining, 2012
Heavy gauge X65/70 steels have been developed for deep-water offshore application. As the thickness of linepipe steels is increased, Mo, Ni, V alloying elements are generally employed to improve the low temperature toughness and strength balance. However, the price of such alloying element has been rapidly increased.

Erosion–corrosion at different locations of X65 carbon steel elbow

Corrosion Science, 2014
Abstract Erosion–corrosion (E–C) behavior of X65 pipeline elbow was investigated by array electrodes technique and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation. The four components (pure corrosion rate, pure erosion rate, erosion–enhanced corrosion rate and corrosion–enhanced erosion rate) of E–C rate at different locations of an elbow were ...

Impedance distribution at the interface of the API steel X65 in marine environment

Electrochimica Acta, 2006
Abstract Steel pipelines used for injection systems containing seawater for secondary oil extraction show corrosion caused by bacterial consortia, species in solution and aggressive ions. In this work an experiment capable of reproducing the steel–seawater system is designed to study impedance distribution of the film formed at the steel–seawater ...

Evaluation of Fracture Initiation Energy in API X65 Pipeline Steel

2008 7th International Pipeline Conference, Volume 3, 2008
In this paper, energy absorption characteristics of spiral welded gas pipeline steel are investigated under impact loading. Emphasise is given to energy consuming processes before fracture propagation in tested linepipe steel. The API X65 grade pipe was produced (by Sadid Pipe and Equipment Company) from thermo-mechanical controlled process (TMCP ...

Influence of H2S and CO2Corrosion Scales on Hydrogen Permeation in X65 Steel

CORROSION 2008, 2008
Abstract In pipelines transporting wet gas containing with H2S and CO2, electrochemical corrosion can occur as well as Hydrogen Induced Cracking (HIC). The presence of H2S and CO2 corrosion scales influences the process of hydrogen entry into the steel. This was studied with an electrochemical cell.

Effect of cathodic protection on ductility of X65 linepipe steel weldments

British Corrosion Journal, 1986
AbstractThe combined effects of strain rate, monotonic loading, and cathodic protection and overprotection on the mechanical properties of X65 linepipe steel parent plate and gas metal arc weld metal have been investigated in NaCl solution. The results obtained on longitudinal all parent plate and all weld metal specimens indicate that the latter ...
