A Statistical Review of Hydrogen Effects on the Fatigue and Fracture Behavior of Steel

open access: yesFatigue &Fracture of Engineering Materials &Structures, Volume 48, Issue 9, Page 3613-3644, September 2025.
ABSTRACT This study conducts a statistical re‐analysis of experimental data from the literature to assess the influence of hydrogen on key mechanical properties, including the medium‐/high‐cycle fatigue strength and the threshold value of the stress intensity factor range.

Hydrogen embrittlement susceptibility of a high strength steel X80 [PDF]

open access: yesMaterials Science and Engineering: A, 2010
The present paper deals with hydrogen embrittlement (HE) susceptibility of a high strength steel grade (X80). The respective implication of different hydrogen populations, i.e. adsorbed, dissolved in interstitial sites, trapped on dislocations and/or microstructural elements on the associated embrittlement mechanisms has been addressed through ...

Microbiologically influenced corrosion in aluminium alloys and premier techniques for comprehensive identification and characterization across diverse metal types

open access: yesJournal of Chemical Technology &Biotechnology, Volume 100, Issue 6, Page 1143-1158, June 2025.
Abstract Microbiologically influenced corrosion (MIC) is acknowledged as a significant type of corrosion due to its extensive impact on metal/alloy surfaces. As MIC accounts for 20% of all corrosion instances, it is a critical factor causing service failure of engineering materials such as steel and aluminium alloy.

Strain model and experimental study of elastic viscoplastic for crack-tip zone of X80 steel pipe

open access: yesJournal of Pipeline Science and Engineering, 2022
The mechanical state of the process zone at the crack-tip is one of the main factors that affect crack initiation and growth in the long-term safe operation of oil and gas pipelines. Many tests showed that the stress and strain fields in the fracture-tip

Austenite decomposition in an X80 linepipe steel

open access: yes, 2011
The final microstructure and resulting mechanical properties in the heat-affected zone (HAZ) of welded linepipes are predominantly determined by austenite decomposition during cooling after welding processes. Thus, a full understanding of continuous cooling transformation of austenite is a key step toward improving the overall performance of linepipes.

Simulation of Natural Gas Pipeline Networks Based on Roughness Optimization Algorithm and Global Mesh Refinement

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, Volume 13, Issue 4, Page 1567-1576, April 2025.
A new numerical simulation method is developed for natural gas pipeline systems based on roughness optimization and global mesh refinement, coupled with the measured data of SCADA system. The accuracy of the proposed method is verified by the actual pipeline examples.

Higher suicide risk in type 1 diabetes compared to cancer and the general population in Korea

open access: yesJournal of Internal Medicine, Volume 297, Issue 4, Page 423-436, April 2025.
Abstract Background People with diabetes have increased suicide risk. However, it is unclear whether those with type 1 diabetes (T1D) have a higher risk than those with cancer, a disease associated with significant psychological stress and suicide risk.
