Effect of Heat Treatment on Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of API X90 Pipeline Steel Welded Joints

Transactions of the Indian Institute of Metals, 2019
In this work, X90 pipeline steel was welded by shielded metal arc welding with root and submerged arc welding with calk and cap. After that, the joint was tempered at 550 °C and 600 °C. Subsequently, the microstructure and mechanical properties were investigated by optical microscope, scanning electron microscope (SEM) and Vickers hardness tester.

NbC-TiN co-precipitation behavior and mechanical properties of X90 pipeline steels by critical-temperature rolling process

International Journal of Pressure Vessels and Piping, 2018
Abstract The X90 pipeline steels containing Nb and Ti elements have been produced by special critical-tempering rolling process (CTRP) and conventional thermomechanical controlled process (TMCP) respectively. Microstructure was investigated with field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) and field emission transmission electron microscopy ...

Effect of post-weld heat treatment on corrosion resistance of X90 pipeline steel joints

International Journal of Materials Research
Abstract In order to improve the corrosion resistance of welded joints, X90 pipeline steel joints were subjected to post-weld heat treatment at 610 °C, 640 °C, and 670 °C (holding time was 1 h). Through electrochemical corrosion and full immersion corrosion experiments, the corrosion resistance of welded joints under various conditions ...

Effect of welding heat input on grain boundary evolution and toughness properties in CGHAZ of X90 pipeline steel

Materials Science and Engineering: A, 2018
Abstract In the present study, the simulated coarse-grained heat-affected zones (CGHAZs) of X90 pipeline steel were produced using a Gleeble 3500 simulator under different heat inputs (HIs) varying from 10 to 50 kJ/cm to study the effect of HI on grain boundary evolution and toughness properties in CGHAZ of X90 pipeline steel.
