Our introduction to X-cliromosonie cartography came when a blood group disclosed itself to be X-linked and to have a frequency that made it, theoretically at any rate, almost the best imaginable niarlcer of the X (h~lann, Calian, Gelb, Fisher, Hamper, Tippett, Sanger and Race, 1962).

The X chromosome and systemic sclerosis
Current Opinion in Rheumatology, 2006Similar to the majority of autoimmune rheumatic diseases, systemic sclerosis is characterized by a striking female predominance superimposed on a predisposing genetic background. At least two genetic mechanisms have been proposed that play a role in susceptibility to systemic sclerosis; firstly the maintenance of immune tolerance via genes on the X ...

Tetrasomy and pentasomy of the X chromosome
European Journal of Pediatrics, 2011We describe a newborn girl with a life-threatening laryngomalacia and extreme hypotonia. Genetic analysis revealed the very rare genetic condition mosaicism of 48,XXXX and 49,XXXXX (50/50). We here state that the degree of early hypotonia constitutes an important early prognostic feature in this syndrome.

Four evolutionary strata on the human X chromosome.
Science, 1999Human sex chromosomes evolved from autosomes. Nineteen ancestral autosomal genes persist as differentiated homologs on the X and Y chromosomes. The ages of individual X-Y gene pairs (measured by nucleotide divergence) and the locations of their X members
