CONSERVATION OF THE STEAM SHIP XANTHO
AICCM Bulletin, 1986The SS Xantho was an iron-hulled steamer built as a paddle steamer by Dennys of Dumbarton in 1848. Subsequently the ship had a new boiler and engine fitted by Robert Stewart of Glasgow who then sold the boat to C.E. Broadhurst, a western Australian pioneer. The boat sank soon after arrival in Australia, close to the harbour at Port Gregory.
