Zircon Xenocrysts From Easter Island (Rapa Nui) Reveal Hotspot Activity Since the Middle Jurassic

open access: yesAGU Advances
We report the finding of mantle‐derived zircon grains retrieved from red soils, regoliths, and beach sands from Easter Island, that are much older than the island volcanism (0–2.5 Ma) and its underlying lithosphere (Pliocene, 3–4.8 Ma).

Mineralogy and geochemistry of the xenocrysts from Aykhal kimberlite pipe, Yakutia: Mantle reconstructions and comparison of phases

open access: yesGeosystems and Geoenvironment
Minerals separated from heavy mineral concentrates from two phases of the Aykhal kimberlite pipe, Yakutia, were analyzed with the EPMA, SEM, and ICP-MS.

Thermoluminescence age of quartz xenocrysts in basaltic lava from Oninomi monogenetic volcano, northern Kyushu, Japan [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We determined the eruption age of basaltic rocks by application of thermoluminescence (TL) method, which is often used for TL dating, to quartz. Mafic magma only rarely includes quartz because of their mutual disequilibration. The basaltic lavas reported

From continent to intra-oceanic arc: Zircon xenocrysts record the crustal evolution of the Solomon island arc

open access: yes, 2014
The first U-Pb ages from a ca. 26–24 Ma pluton on Guadalcanal, in the intra-oceanic Solomon island arc (southwest Pacific Ocean), reveal Eocene- to Archean-aged zircon xenocrysts. Xenocryst populations at ca. 39–33 Ma and ca.

Diffusion Coronas Around Quartz Xenocrysts in Basaltic Andesite from Capus (Cionca Hill, Gilau Mountains - Romania) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Diffusion coronas consisting of Al – poor pyroxene (augite), glass and silica polymorphs are developed around the quartz xenocrysts in the olivine basaltic andesite from Cionca Hill (Gilău Mountains).

A window on the lithospheric mantle beneath the eastern Trans-Mexican volcanic belt: Insights from pargasite-bearing mantle xenocrysts from the Holocene Ocotenco maar volcano

open access: yes
In this short communication, we report and discuss for the first time the occurrence of pargasite-bearing pyroxenite mantle macro-xenocrysts in a basaltic-andesite juvenile material erupted from the Holocene Ocotenco maar at the Serd ́an-Oriental Basin

Eudialyte-group minerals from the Monte de Trigo alkaline suite, Brazil: composition and petrological implications

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Geology
: The Monte de Trigo alkaline suite is a SiO2-undersaturated syenite-gabbroid association from the Serra do Mar alkaline province. Eudialyte-group minerals (EGMs) occur in one nepheline microsyenite dyke, associated with aegirine-augite, wöhlerite ...

Cooling rates of olivine xenocrysts in the EET79001 shergottite

open access: yesCooling rates of olivine xenocrysts in the EET79001 shergottite
P(論文) The chemical zoning profiles of olivine xenocrysts in lithology A of the Elephant Moraine (EET) 79001 basaltic shergottite have been measured in order to investigate its cooling history. Olivines are zoned from Fa_ in the cores to Fa_ in the rims.
