Geochemistry of forty‐one eclogitic and pyroxenitic mantle xenoliths from the Central Slave Craton, Canada (Ekati Diamond Mine)

open access: yesGeoscience Data Journal
This article describes a novel dataset on non‐diamondiferous eclogite and garnet pyroxenite xenoliths from four kimberlite pipes of the Ekati Diamond Mine (Central Slave Craton, Canada). Xenoliths brought to the surface by kimberlite eruptions are direct

Allanite in Mantle Eclogite Xenoliths

open access: yesJournal of Petrology
Abstract Rare-Earth Elements (REE) are key geochemical tracers of crust–mantle differentiation, but there are few direct data on REE-rich minerals in mantle rocks. Here, we report the combined petrography and comprehensive chemical and isotopic characterization of three coesite- and kyanite-bearing eclogite xenoliths from the Udachnaya ...

Modes of Occurrence of Spinel in Xenoliths.,

open access: yesThe Journal of the Geological Society of Japan, 1949
During his petrological study on the inclusions in the garnet-biotite-andesite from Nijo Volcano near Osaka, the present writer pointed out the common occurrence of spinel associating intimately with porphyroblastic andalusite or sillimanite in some xenoliths derived from argillaceous metamorphic rock, as the feature to be observed in xenoliths when ...

AMPHIBOLE-PHLOGOPITE XENOLITHS FROM KIMBERLITES AS EVIDENCE OF METASOMATIC PROCESSES IN THE LITHOSPHERIC MANTLE BENEATH KUOIKA FIELD

open access: yesГеодинамика и тектонофизика
This paper devoted to the mantle xenoliths with evidence of modal metasomatic alteration from the Obnazhennaya kimberlite pipe (Kuoika kimberlite field).

Geodynamic implications of xenolith geotherms

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, 2003
Studies of xenolith suites yield depth‐temperature arrays for the lithosphere at the time of eruption. These studies constrain the conductive heat flow through the lithosphere and limit the temperature range across the rheological boundary layer to <300 K. Numerical models of convection illustrate features that may be found within suites of samples.

The Xenolithic suite of the Strontian Granite [PDF]

open access: yes, 1990
The Strontian Granite in Argyllshire. is a composite pluton of late Caledonian age, emplaced into Moinian psammitic and pelitic rocks. It is composed of an outer tonalitic granodiorite (dated at 435 Ma.) passing into a porphyritic granodioritic, both xenolithic, and intruded by a younger alkali granite (ca. 400 Ma.).
