Morphogenesis and characterization of wheat xerogel structure and insights into its 4D transformation

, 2021
The pioneering concept in additive manufacturing is the four-dimensional (4D) materials. The material science approach is required to design the complex stimuli-responsive food structures. Wheat flour components were engineered by gelatinizing and drying

Development of microporous cellulose-based smart xerogel reversible sensor via freeze drying for naked-eye detection of ammonia gas

Carbohydrate Polymers, 2019
Microporous cellulose xerogel can be defined as low density biomaterial that can be employed for a variety of promising applications of different fields. The characteristics of xerogel are a consequence of their microstructure.

Nitrogen, Phosphorus Co-doped Carbon Obtained from Amino Acid Based Resin Xerogel as Efficient Electrode for Supercapacitor

, 2020
The organic xerogel was synthesized from the polymerization reaction of a kind of amino acid, tyrosine, and pyrrole-2-carbaldehyde using phosphoric acid as the catalyst and phosphorus source. Nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) co-doped carbon (NPC) aerogels

Effect of synthesis medium on structural and photocatalytic properties of ZnO/carbon xerogel composites for solar and visible light degradation of 4-chlorophenol and bisphenol A

, 2020
The effect of synthesis medium (ethanol and water) on ZnO/Carbon xerogel photocatalysts was studied in order to increase the efficiency of the photocatalytic degradation of 4-chlorophenol and bisphenol A. The use of carbon xerogel is justified due to its

MgF2 Xerogels

Journal of Sol-Gel Science and Technology, 2004
MgF2 protective and antireflective coatings have been conventionally produced by sputtering or chemical vapour deposition CVD [1, 2], but here sol-gel routes to MgF2 are explored. MgF2(M) and MgF2(E) were prepared using an alkoxide:HF:ROH mole ratio of 1:2:200 with methanol and ethanol respectively. All sols were stable for over a year.

Crystallization of TiO2 xerogel

Journal of Thermal Analysis and Calorimetry, 2020
For utilization of TiO2 in advanced applications, TiO2 after thermal treatment has to be in crystalline phase of anatase, because it gives the desired (photocatalytic) properties to material. The work deals with the study of anatase crystallization in TiO2 xerogel (dried at 80 °C) which was prepared from sol in “titanium isopropoxide–isopropyl alcohol ...

Superhydrophobic nitric oxide-releasing xerogels

Acta Biomaterialia, 2014
Superhydrophobic nitric oxide (NO)-releasing xerogels were prepared by spray-coating a fluorinated silane/silica composite onto N-diazeniumdiolate NO donor-modified xerogels. The thickness of the superhydrophobic layer was used to extend NO release durations from 59 to 105h.

Gaseous iodine sorbents: A comparison between Ag-loaded aerogel and xerogel scaffolds.

ACS Applied Materials and Interfaces, 2020
Silver-exchanged aluminosilicate aerogels and xerogels were investigated as gaseous iodine [I2(g)] sorbents. The structures, morphologies, compositions, and pore structures of aerogels (as-made and heat-treated at 350°C) and xerogels are compared using ...

Synthesis and characterization of ZnFe2O4 nanoparticles on infrared radiation by xerogel with sol-gel method

Chemical Physics Letters, 2020
A sol-gel method to synthesize and characterize ZnFe2O4 nanoparticles was reported, where the nanoparticles were synthesized by sintering the xerogel following a low-temperature drying method. The results indicated that the surface area of xerogel was 86
