Core‐Shell: Resolving the Dilemma of Hard Carbon Anodes by Sealing Nanoporous Particles With Semi‐Permeable Coatings

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, Volume 65, Issue 10, 2 March 2026.
A core–shell strategy is presented to overcome the high first‐cycle losses of non‐graphitic hard carbon anodes. Activated carbon is sealed by gas‐phase carbon deposition to create semi‐permeable shells that spatially separate SEI formation from Na storage in a retained nanoporous core. The resulting anode delivers 400 ± 24 mAh g−1 with an ICE of 82 ± 2%

Holographic Photopolymerizable Glass: Enhancing Exposure Sensitivity by Tailoring Photoinitiating Systems Based on BODIPY Dyes

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, Volume 7, Issue 3, March 2026.
The holographic recording performance of the photopolymerizable hybrid sol–gel is enhanced by optimizing photoinitiating systems based on boron dipyrromethene dyes. Two‐ and three‐component type‐II photoinitiating systems are employed, and their photopolymerization efficiency is evaluated through holographic patterning at 532 nm.

On Tuning the Fluorescence Emission of Porphyrin Free Bases Bonded to the Pore Walls of Organo-Modified Silica

open access: yesMolecules, 2014
A sol-gel methodology has been duly developed in order to perform a controlled covalent coupling of tetrapyrrole macrocycles (e.g., porphyrins, phthalocyanines, naphthalocyanines, chlorophyll, etc.) to the pores of metal oxide networks.

Synthesis and robocasting of YAG xerogel: one-step conversion of ceramics

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
An optimized sol–gel protocol was carried out to produce an yttrium aluminum garnet (YAG) xerogel from aluminum alkoxide and an yttrium salt on a semi-pilot scale. This xerogel was successfully used without prior pyrolysis as a solid load with the aid of

New hybrid organochlorinated xerogels

open access: yes, 2021
Hybrid silica xerogels (HSXG) combine the properties of organic and inorganic components in the same material, which makes them promising and versatile candidates for multiple applications. These materials can be easily prepared by the sol-gel process, which offers the possibility to obtain different morphologies.

Nucleoside‐Based Hydrogel Platform Synergizes with Photothermal Effects for Enhanced Biofilm Eradication Against Periodontitis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 13, 3 March 2026.
A synergistic antibiofilm hydrogel platform (ZBAg@FNP) is developed by encapsulating an organic small‐molecule photothermal agent (FNP) within a silver ion‐mediated supramolecular hydrogel (ZBAg), enabling photothermal disruption of biofilm integrity and controlled Ag⁺ ion release upon irradiation.
