Ictiofauna acompanhante na pesca artesanal do camarão sete-barbas (Xiphopenaeus kroyeri) no litoral sul do Brasil [PDF]

open access: yesBiota Neotropica, 2013

Exploring chitin morphologies in cuticle fragments of Xiphopenaeus kroyeri by atomic force microscopy

Carbohydrate Polymers, 2002
Abstract Shells of Xiphopenaeus kroyerishrimp were submitted to mild acid and alkaline treatments to produce α chitin films, which were characterised by infrared spectroscopy. Dynamic AC operational mode atomic force microscopy (AFM) was used to image the external surface and regions of an inner surface of the cuticle. All samples were scanned in air.

Spatiotemporal evaluation of Xiphopenaeus kroyeri (Heller, 1862) abundance in a region of the Southwest Atlantic shelf

Continental Shelf Research, 2019
Abstract Several activities, such as port and fishing operations, exploit coastal marine ecosystems around the world, creating significant environmental impact. Since these activities often overlap spatially, they can interfere with each other. This paper aims to evaluate the spatiotemporal variability in the relative abundance of the Atlantic seabob

EROD activity and genotoxicity in the seabob shrimp Xiphopenaeus kroyeri exposed to benzo[a]pyrene (BaP) concentrations

Environmental Toxicology and Pharmacology, 2012
Seabob shrimp Xiphopenaeus kroyeri is a marine species that lives in shallow waters of coastal environments, often impacted by polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) pollution. In the present study, seabob shrimp were exposed for 96 h to benzo[a]pyrene (BaP) at the nominal concentrations of 100, 200, 400 and 800 microg-L(-1).

Population dynamics of the seabob shrimpXiphopenaeus kroyeri(Dendrobranchiata, Penaeidae) in south-eastern Brazil

African Journal of Marine Science, 2013
The population dynamics, including the sex ratio, reproductive period, individual growth and longevity, and population structure of the shrimp Xiphopenaeus kroyeri, are described. The shrimps were collected monthly from July 2005 to June 2007 at four sites in Ubatuba Bay, Brazil.

Diel variation in abundance and size of the seabob shrimp Xiphopenaeus kroyeri (Crustacea, Penaeoidea) in the Ubatuba region, Southeastern Brazil [PDF]

open access: yesAnais Da Academia Brasileira De Ciencias, 2010
The objective of the present study was to analyze diel variation in the abundance and size of the seabob shrimp Xiphopenaeus kroyeri in the Ubatuba region, state of São Paulo, during the year 2000. In each season of the year, collections were made in the day and at night on 9 transects at depths ranging from 2 to 40 m.

Evaluation of determinants of Xiphopenaeus kroyeri (Heller, 1862) catch abundance along a Southwest Atlantic subtropical shelf [PDF]

open access: yesICES Journal of Marine Science, 2014
Abstract Generalized linear models were applied to identify factors affecting the capture rates (catch per unit effort, cpue) of Xiphopenaeus kroyeri and to estimate time-series data with standardized abundance indices. The adjusted models revealed that the most powerful vessels (with greater HP) were up to 3.5 times more efficient than ...

A Kinetic Characterization of (Na+, K+)-ATPase Activity in the Gills of the Pelagic Seabob Shrimp Xiphopenaeus kroyeri (Decapoda, Penaeidae)

The Journal of Membrane Biology, 2014
We characterize the kinetic properties of a gill (Na(+), K(+))-ATPase from the pelagic marine seabob Xiphopenaeus kroyeri. Sucrose density gradient centrifugation revealed membrane fractions distributed mainly into a heavy fraction showing considerable (Na(+), K(+))-ATPase activity, but also containing mitochondrial F0F1- and Na(+)- and V-ATPases ...

Morphometric variation in the shape of the cephalothorax of shrimpXiphopenaeus kroyerion the east coast of Brazil

Journal of the Marine Biological Association of the United Kingdom, 2012
The objective of this study was to analyse the differences in shape of the cephalothorax in four fishery stocks of sea-bob shrimpXiphopenaeus kroyerithat are distributed on the east coast of Brazil, applying geometric morphometry as the analytical tool. Samples were collected at the fishing ports of Caravelas (17°43′S 39°15′W), Vitória (20°15′S 40°14′W)
