XML and semantic validation [PDF]
With XML as with SGML, we can have structural correctness, once they provide syntactic rules to state how to mark-up all the documents of the same family (of the same type); moreover, XML also imposes a working approach in which there is a complete separation between the structure of the data and the way it looks.

The tissue microarray data exchange specification: A document type definition to validate and enhance XML data [PDF]
Background The Association for Pathology Informatics (API) Extensible Mark-up Language (XML) TMA Data Exchange Specification (TMA DES) proposed in April 2003 provides a community-based, open source tool for sharing tissue microarray (TMA) data in a ...

Semantic validation for XML updates
For data centric XML data, updates bring the problem of validation that the updated data must conform to both structural and semantic constraints according to XML schemas. Most existing XML validation works today are concentrated on structural constraints with respect to DTD and XML. Schema (XSD).

XML instances to validate XML schemas
Ever modified an XML schema? Ever broken something while fixing a bug or adding a new feature? As with any piece of engineering, the more complex a schema is, the harder it is to maintain. In other domains, unit tests dramatically reduce the number of regressions and thus provide a kind of safety net for maintainers.

XML schema validation using parsing expression grammars [PDF]
Schema validation is an integral part of reliable information exchange on the Web. However, implementing an efficient schema validation tool is not easy. We highlight the use of parsing expression grammars (PEGs), a recognition-based foundation for describing syntax, and apply it to the XML/DTD validation.

XML Schema Validation Using Java API for XML Processing
Extensible Markup Language (XML) is a markup language that is developed to organize the structure of information in a text file. The data in XML formatted documents are represented by specifying a number of tags and determining the structural relationship between those tags. It has a simple structure and can be handled by any text editor.

Validation of XML Documents with SWRL [PDF]
In this paper we describe how XML documents are mapped into an OWL ontology and how SWRL rules are used to validate the semantic content of XML documents. XML completion and data constraints are specified with SWRL. The semantic completion of the XML document can be mapped into a semantic completion of the corresponding ontology.

XMLSchema2ShEx: Converting XML validation to RDF validation
RDF validation is a field where the Semantic Web community is currently focusing attention. Besides, there is a recent trend to migrate data from different sources to semantic web formats. Therefore, in order to facilitate this transformation, we propose: a set of mappings that can be used to convert from XML Schema to Shape Expressions (ShEx), a ...
