Anaerobic Corrosion Phenomena of Cast Iron and Copper in Artificial Groundwater at Elevated Temperature

open access: yesMaterials and Corrosion, EarlyView.
This study examines corrosion of copper and cast iron as candidate canister materials for high‐level radioactive waste disposal in contact with bentonite suspension. The influence of three electrolyte compositions on corrosion behavior under repository‐relevant conditions is assessed.

Analysis of Corrosion and Wall Perforation in the Heat Exchanger Made of AISI 316L Stainless Steel

open access: yesMaterials and Corrosion, EarlyView.
Elevated passivation temperature is identified as the dominant factor triggering localized corrosion and subsequent perforation of AISI 316L heat exchanger tubes. Electrochemical and complementary characterization results show that the alloy retains high resistance to general, pitting, and intergranular corrosion, indicating that failure primarily ...

Quantification of 10B and 11B in Biological Samples in Translational Science and Clinical Applications for Boron Neutron Capture Therapy (BNCT)

open access: yesMedicinal Research Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT) is a targeted radiotherapy that exploits the selective accumulation of the 10B isotope within tumors, followed by irradiation with low‐energy neutrons to induce high linear energy transfer particles with short path lengths, resulting in localized tumor cell destruction while sparing surrounding healthy ...

Performance of Glass Fiber Composites With Plastic‐Waste Pyrolysis Char as Filler

open access: yesPolymer Composites, EarlyView.
Valorisation of mixed plastic waste into carbonaceous char via pyrolysis, its integration as a microfiller in epoxy/E‐glass (GFRP) laminates, and characterisation to assess composite performance as a function of filler loading. ABSTRACT Plastic pyrolysis offers circular solutions for mixed plastic waste but leaves a carbonaceous char that is often ...

Optimizing Na and Rb Incorporation Along With Bandgap Grading for High Efficiency Ultra‐Thin CIGSe Solar Cells

open access: yesProgress in Photovoltaics: Research and Applications, EarlyView.
In this work, Na and Rb are incorporated into ultra‐thin Cu(In,Ga)Se2 (< 500 nm). By systematically varying the Rb content and combining predeposited Na with postdeposited Rb, we identify the optimal configuration, achieving solar cell efficiencies of 11.72% on Mo and 10.48% on ITO. Through electrical and compositional measurements, a mechanistic model

From Waste to Value: A Data‐Driven Framework for Sustainable Raw Materials Substitution in the Ceramic Industry

open access: yesSustainable Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT With increasing geopolitical risks, environmental pressures, and regulatory demands, the sustainable sourcing of raw materials has become a global priority for achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), and SDG

Reactivity of Oxidized Porous Silicon with Calcium Ion in Aqueous Media: Stability, pH Behavior, and Host‐Guest Strategies

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Oxidized porous silicon, composed of an elemental silicon porous skeleton coated with a silica shell, reacts with aqueous Ca2+ to generate a mixed silica–calcium silicate matrix that is remarkably efficient at trapping small molecules. With an emphasis on the engineering of controlled‐release drug delivery systems, this study identifies the factors ...

Anisotropic Swelling of a Single‐Crystalline Hydrogen‐Bonded Organic Framework Induced by Iodine Vapor Uptake

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
A single crystal of a layered hydrogen‐bonded organic framework (HOF) undergoes iodine uptake‐induced anisotropic swelling via adsorption into void channels and intercalation into the layers. ABSTRACT In this paper, we report that iodine vapor adsorption induces anisotropic swelling of a porous hydrogen‐bonded framework (HOF) composed of hexacarboxylic

Recycling End‐of‐Life Solid Oxide Cell Interconnect Assemblies into Commercial‐Grade AISI 304 Stainless Steels

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
This study validates a recycling pathway for converting interconnect assemblies from end‐of‐life SOC stacks into commercial‐grade AISI 304 steels. Using scrap‐based steelmaking operations, austenitic cast steels with <4.0% δ‐ferrite are successfully produced.

Hydrogen‐Based Reduction of Hematitic Iron Ore in a Fluidized Bed Kinetic Reactor at Elevated Pressures

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
This study investigates the reduction behavior of two international iron ores, including a synthetic hematite produced by oxidation of magnetite, in a novel fluidized‐bed kinetic reactor at elevated pressures. The reduction takes place at various temperatures (650°C, 700°C, and 750°C), and various hydrogen partial pressures (30, 55, and 80 vol% H2 ...
