Combined application of Bacillus velezensis JDB15 and Trichoderma harzianum JDL4 suppresses banana Fusarium wilt under controlled conditions

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
The surfactin C secreted by JDB15 and the probable parasitism of JDL4 lead to the leakage of intracellular macromolecules and the degradation of hyphae, respectively. Combined application of the two strains effectively controls banana Fusarium wilt under controlled conditions.

Controlled incubation, leachate, and pot assays of shrimp shell‐based compost for suppressing Verticillium dahliae in olive

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Shrimp shell compost suppresses Verticillium dahliae microsclerotia, enhances chitinase activity, lowers olive wilt severity and improves plant recovery under controlled conditions. Abstract BACKGROUND Verticillium wilt of olive (Olea europaea L.), caused by Verticillium dahliae Kleb., is difficult to manage because long‐lived microsclerotia persist in

Evaluation of electrolyzed water to control fungal trunk pathogens in grapevine nurseries

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 81, Issue 4, Page 1740-1751, April 2025.
Electrolyzed water treatments could have promising applications in the grapevine nursery process to prevent or reduce infections caused by fungal trunk pathogens on grapevine propagation material. Abstract BACKGROUND Grapevine producers demand solutions to control fungal trunk pathogens (FTPs) in nurseries.

Single and dual RPA‐CRISPR/Cas assays for point‐of‐need detection of Stewart's wilt pathogen (Pantoea stewartii subsp. stewartii) of corn and Maize dwarf mosaic virus

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 81, Issue 4, Page 1988-1999, April 2025.
Schematic diagram of the single and dual RPA‐CRISPR/Cas12a/13a diagnostic assays for the detection of Pantoea stewartii subsp. stewartii and Maize dwarf mosaic virus. The validated assays provide a useful and sensitive molecular tool for detecting two quarantine pathogens of maize within a minimal resource framework suitable for fast‐tracking the ...

Multi‐Vine Disease Prediction in a Field Test Spanning Whole Growth Season at Wine‐Industrial Site (McLaren Vale)

open access: yesArtificial Intelligence for Engineering, EarlyView.
Overall, the findings provide reliable evidence for block‐level disease early warning, inspection prioritisation, and spray decision‐making, helping to reduce unnecessary inputs, lower environmental burdens, and improve the resilience and sustainability of vineyard production systems.

Investigation of the Evolution Mechanism and Multiphysics Coupling in Tree‐Contact Single‐Phase‐to‐Ground Fault

open access: yesHigh Voltage, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Tree‐contact single‐phase‐to‐ground fault (TSF) is a common and hazardous type of failure in distribution networks. TSF is likely to occur when overhead conductors contact moist tree branches, potentially leading to insulation breakdown, posing serious threats to grid safety.

Functional traits can explain coordinated seedling responses to drought and freezing stress

open access: yesFunctional Ecology, EarlyView.
Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract Limited plant establishment creates demographic bottlenecks that can alter vegetation trajectories in changing environments, yet it is unclear how common eco‐evolutionary indicators of plant strategy shape early response to key stressors.

Hemipteran vectors of stylet‐borne plant viruses: Aphids lead the charge

open access: yesInsect Science, EarlyView.
Among all sap‐feeding hemipterans, aphids stand out by far as the most important vectors of noncirculative plant viruses. Compared to whiteflies and mealybugs, aphids’ highly specialized stylet anatomy and distinct feeding behaviors contribute, together with other features of their biology, to their remarkable efficiency in transmitting stylet‐borne ...

LsFAMeT and LsJHAMT coordinate JH biosynthesis to regulate fecundity in Laodelphax striatellus

open access: yesInsect Science, EarlyView.
The small brown planthopper (SBPH), Laodelphax striatellus, can trigger large‐scale outbreaks when encountering suitable habitats during migration due to their strong reproductive ability. This study investigated the role of juvenile hormone (JH) in regulating SBPH reproduction.

Molecular Regulation of Cell Wall Structure During Wood Formation in Forest Trees

open access: yesJournal of Natural Fibers
There is a growing demand for wood as a sustainable energy source and an essential carbon sink for ecosystems. Wood formation is a dynamic process involving plant radial growth in various stages, including vascular cambial cell proliferation, xylem ...
