Acute and subchronic toxicity of xylo-oligosaccharide in mice and rats

Toxicology Mechanisms and Methods, 2012
Xylo-oligosaccharide (XOS) is sugar oligomers composed of a β-1,4-linked xylopyranosyl backbone that are obtained by either chemical or, more commonly, enzymatic hydrolysis of xylan polysaccharides extracted from plant cell wall. In this study, acute and subchronic toxicity of XOS in mice and rats have been evaluated, respectively.

Xylo-oligosaccharides are competitive inhibitors of cellobiohydrolase I from Thermoascus aurantiacus

Bioresource Technology, 2012
The effects of xylo-oligosaccharides (XOS) and xylose on the hydrolytic activities of cellulases, endoglucanase II (EGII, originating from Thermoascus aurantiacus), cellobiohydrolase I (CBHI, from T. aurantiacus), and cellobiohydrolase II (CBHII, from Trichoderma reesei) on Avicel and nanocellulose were investigated.

Structural insights into the inhibition of cellobiohydrolase Cel7A by xylo‐oligosaccharides

The FEBS Journal, 2015
The filamentous fungus Hypocrea jecorina (anamorph of Trichoderma reesei) is the predominant source of enzymes for industrial saccharification of lignocellulose biomass. The major enzyme, cellobiohydrolase Cel7A, constitutes nearly half of the total protein in the secretome.

Separation of xylo-oligosaccharides from enzymatic hydrolytes using membrane reactor

Journal of Central South University of Technology, 2003
The time course of xylo-oligosaccharides concentration and xylo-oligosaccharides yield in the separation of xylo-oligosaccharides from enzymatic hydrolytes was studied using a membrane reactor with constant permeate flux of 4 L · m−2 · h−1. The results show that xylanases retain 90% of its activity in the reactor.

Rate of hydrolysis of xylo-oligosaccharides in dilute sulfuric acid

Carbohydrate Research, 1979
Abstract The kinetics of hydrolysis in dilute sulfuric acid of xylo-oligosaccharides ranging between the di- and penta-oligosaccharides has been studied. One of the two terminal bonds and each internal bond of all xylo-oligosaccharides tested were hydrolysed at the same rate.

[Quantitative determination of xylo-oligosaccharides in xylo-oligosaccharide products with high performance anion-exchange chromatography coupled with pulsed amperometric detection].

Se pu = Chinese journal of chromatography, 2012
A method for the analysis of xylo-oligosaccharides (XOS) in xylo-oligosaccharide products, including xylobiose, xylotriose, xylotetraose, xylopentaose and xylohexaose, was developed using high performance anion-exchange chromatography coupled with pulsed amperometric detection (HPAEC-PAD).

Diafiltration process on xylo-oligosaccharides syrup using nanofiltration and its modelling

International Journal of Food Science and Technology, 2012
Abstract This work presents a theoretical study of the diafiltration and concentration processes on xylo-oligosaccharides (XOs) syrup using nanofiltration (NF). In our previous study of the separation performance of the NF process on XOs syrup, the models of flux (Jv) and observed retention (Robs) of an NF membrane have been established.
