Extraction of Gallium(III) With a New Azo Dye in the Presence or Absence of Xylometazoline Hydrochloride [PDF]

open access: yesCroatica Chemica Acta, 2020
Complex formation between Ga(III) and 6-hexyl-4-(2-thiazolylazo)resorcinol (HTAR, H2L) was studied in a water-chloroform medium, in the presence or absence of xylometazoline hydrochloride (XMH). Optimum conditions for the extraction of Ga(III) were found. In the presence of XMH, the extracted ion-associate has the formula (XMH+)[GaIIIL2], where HTAR is

Comprehensive Evaluation of Xylometazoline Hydrochloride Formulations: Ex-Vivo and In-Vitro Studies

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Pharmaceutics and Biopharmaceutics
Xylometazoline is a well-established nasal decongestant that has been used alone and in combination with dexpanthenol as an over the counter (OTC) medicine. Considering the possibility of further improvement of xylometazoline nasal formulations, hyaluronic acid (HA) was evaluated as an additional ingredient. The aim of this study was to investigate the

Using the Zero-Order Derivative Spectrum for the Quantitative Estimation of Xylometazoline Hydrochloride in Its Pure Form and Some of Its Pharmaceutical Preparations [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Health Sciences, 2022
A new spectrophotometric method has been developed for the rapid, accurate and inexpensive determination of xylometazoline (XMH) in its pure form and in some pharmaceutical preparations, using the first derivative technique. It was found that this technique enables us to quantitatively estimate xylometazoline in a range of concentrations (5-50 µg.ml-1),

Emulsion Formulations of Indomethacine and Xylometazoline Hydrochloride for Intranasal Delivery

open access: yesErzincan Üniversitesi Fen Bilimleri Enstitüsü Dergisi, 2020
Nasal administration has many advantages over nasal, parenteral or oral administration. Some drugs are ineffective when administered orally due to absorption and first pass metabolism. Therefore, if the aqueous solubility problem can be overcome, the intranasal route will be an alternative method for administration.

Extraction-Chromogenic Systems for Gallium(III) Based on Azo Dyes and Xylometazoline Hydrochloride

Russian Journal of General Chemistry, 2020
Two liquid-liquid extraction-chromogenic systems for GaIII based on azo dyes (ADs) and xylometazoline hydrochloride (XMH) have been studied. The ADs used were 4-(2-pyridylazo)resorcinol (PAR) and 4-(2-thiazolylazo)resorcinol (TAR). The optimum conditions (pH, AD concentration, XMH concentration, and extraction time) for the formation of ternary ...

A Comparison of a Synthetic Prostaglandin and Xylometazolin Hydrochloride as Nasal Decongestants

Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery, 1982
A synthetic prostaglandin E2 analog was compared in the dog to xylometazoline hydrochloride and natural PGE1 and PGE2 for nasal decongestant activity. Using both in vivo nasal patency tests and in vitro nasal blood vessel contraction tests, the synthetic analog was more effective, was very long‐acting, and did not change blood pressure at effective ...

Efficacy of 0.1% Xylometazoline-Hydrochloride Nasal Decongestant Spray in Postoperative Sign/Symptom Relief Following Septoplasty: A Randomized Control Trial

open access: yesEar, Nose and Throat Journal
Objective:This study evaluated the efficacy of 0.1% xylometazoline-hydrochloride nasal decongestant spray compared to 0.9% saline nasal spray in relieving post-septoplasty clinical nasal findings and symptoms. Methods: This triple-blinded randomized-clinical-trial was conducted in 2 tertiary-care hospitals in Karachi-Pakistan.

Extractive spectrophotometric determination of chromium(III) in steels using 4-(2-pyridylazo)resorcinol and xylometazoline hydrochloride

The Analyst, 1986
Chromium(III) forms a 1 : 3 orange-red anionic complex with 4-(2-pyridylazo)resorcinol (PAR) when heated in an acetate buffer medium (pH 4.0–5.5) on a water-bath, and this complex can be extracted quantitatively with the xylometazolonium (XMH) cation into chloroform.
