Plutonium AMS measurements in Yangtze River estuary sediment

open access: yesNuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section B: Beam Interactions with Materials and Atoms, 2010
Abstract The Yangtze River is the largest single source of sediment to the continental shelf of the East China Sea. The quantity of material exported by the river is expected to decrease substantially as a consequence of an extensive continuing program of dam construction within the river catchment.

Suppression of local haze variations in MERIS images over turbid coastal waters for retrieval of suspended sediment concentration [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Atmospheric correction over turbid waters can be problematic if atmospheric haze is spatially variable. In this case the retrieval of water quality is hampered by the fact that haze variations could be partly mistaken for variations in suspended sediment

PCDD/Fs and Dioxin-Like PCBs in Sediments from Yellow Estuary and Yangtze Estuary, China [PDF]

open access: yesBulletin of Environmental Contamination and Toxicology, 2009
Twenty one surface sediments were analyzed for PCDD/Fs and dioxin-like PCBs by HRGC-HRMS in Yellow Estuary and Yangtze Estuary in China. The concentration ranges of 2,3,7,8-substituted PCDD/Fs, dioxin-like PCBs and WHO-TEQ were 2.33-253, 0.04-139 and 0.11-1.01 pg/g dw respectively in sediment from two estuaries.

Abundant Cyanobacteria in Autumn Adhering to the Heating, Ventilation, and Air-Conditioning (HVAC) in Shanghai

open access: yesMicroorganisms, 2023
Cyanobacteria are ever-present, mainly flourishing in aquatic environments and surviving virtually in other habitats. The microbiota of indoor dust on the pre-filter of heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems, which reflect indoor ...

129I and its species in the East China Sea: level, distribution, sources and tracing water masses exchange and movement [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Anthropogenic I-129 as a long-lived radioisotope of iodine has been considered as an ideal oceanographic tracer due to its high residence time and conservative property in the ocean. Surface water samples collected from the East China Sea (ECS) in August

The temperature sensitivity of soil organic carbon decomposition is greater in subsoil than in topsoil during laboratory incubation

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
The turnover of soil organic carbon (SOC) in cropland plays an important role in terrestrial carbon cycling, but little is known about the temperature sensitivity (Q 10) of SOC decomposition below the topsoil layer of arable soil.

Dependence of coastal wetland ecosystem respiration on temperature and tides: a temporal perspective [PDF]

open access: yesBiogeosciences, 2014
Variations in temperature are widely invoked to explain fluctuations in ecosystem respiration (ER), but hydrological conditions also influence ER. Many researchers have observed that aperiodic variations in hydrological conditions affect ER and the ...

Tentative Prediction of Harmful Algal Blooms in Yangtze Estuary

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series, 2023
AbstractBy using spatial autoregressive models, this paper mainly studied the limited factors and spatio-temporal prediction of harmful algal blooms (HAB). The environmental factors of sea surface temperature (SST), dissolved organic matter (DOM) and suspended sediment concentration (SSC) were used to model the chlorophyll a (Cha) distribution and the ...
