Structural superimposition and conjunction and its effects on hydrocarbon accumulation in the Western Sichuan Depression

open access: yesPetroleum Exploration and Development, 2011
Records of unconformities and lithologic facies and analysis of paleo-structure show that at least eleven tectonic boundaries exist in the Meso-Cenozoic continental strata in the Western Sichuan Depression.

Evidence for crustal magma chamber associated with metallogeny based on P-wave velocities, South China

open access: yesGeosystems and Geoenvironment, 2022
Recent seismic studies presented evidence for mantle upwelling and magmatic intrusions in the Cathaysia Block in South China. However, the key evidence or crustal velocity structure to understand crustal magma chambers that contributed to ore ...

Fault systems and their relationships to oil and gas in Dabancheng subsag, Chaiwopu Sag, Junggar Basin

open access: yesShiyou shiyan dizhi, 2021
The Chaiwopu Sag of Junggar Basin experienced a major breakthrough in oil and gas exploration for the first time in the late 1980s, however, the exploration effect in this area is still restricted by the complexity of faults and the uneven distribution ...

New chronological evidence for Yanshanian diagenetic mineralization in China’s Altay orogenic belt

open access: yesChinese Science Bulletin, 2000
Granitoids and related pegmatitic rare-metal deposits are widespread in China’s Altay region, they used to be considered as Hercynian rocks and mineral deposits. Reported here are the40Ar-39Ar ages of potassium-rich minerals (muscovite and microcline) in the Koktokay pegmatitic rare-metal orefield and whole-rock as well as quartz fluid-inclusion Rb-Sr ...

Simulation of tectonic stress field and prediction of tectonic fracture distribution in Longmaxi Formation in Lintanchang area of eastern Sichuan Basin

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science, 2022
Shale is a low-porosity and low-permeability reservoir, and structural fractures are the main controlling factor for the migration and accumulation of shale gas. Moreover, tectonic fractures are controlled by the paleo-tectonic stress field.

Geochronology, genesis and landscape of Yanshanian granite in Guangzhou area, central Guangdong Province of China [PDF]

open access: yesSN Applied Sciences, 2019
Based on field geological investigation and zircon U–Pb isotope dating of granites in Guangzhou, central Guangdong, the formation age, petrogenesis and weathering characteristics of granites are discussed. The LA-ICPMS zircon U–Pb ages of Huolushan and Liuqianshan granites in central Guangdong are 159.1 ± 3.5 Ma and 156.2 ± 4.4 Ma, respectively.
