The Late Agricultural Development of Central Arabian Oases—Archaeobotanical and Archaeozoological Studies of the al‐Kharj Oasis

ABSTRACT While oasis settlements emerged during the Bronze Age in Eastern and Northern Arabia, the settlement process in Central Arabia was different. Excavations at al‐Yamāma—main ancient settlement of the al‐Kharj oasis (Riyadh Province, KSA)—suggest that the latter did not emerge before the second half of the first millennium BCE.

Neonicotinoid seed treatments do not consistently reduce insect feeding damage nor increase yields in Maryland soy

We compared soybean plants from untreated and treated seeds across 4 sites and 3 years in Maryland. Neonicotinoid seed treatments (NST) provided little reduction in insect stippling damage and no reduction in chewing damage. NST did not result in increased plant biomass or bean yield. ABSTRACT Contemporary practices of tapping into the wisdom of ancestral trees are described through three entangled recent events lived within the context of Bantu practices in Cameroon.
