Effect of knitting structure and yarn composition on thermal comfort properties of bi-layer knitted fabrics

, 2020
In this work, nine bi-layer knitted samples with varied knitting structures and made up of different yarn compositions were fabricated, and their thermal comfort properties were investigated. The thermal comfort properties were evaluated by breathability,

The prediction of quality characteristics of cotton/elastane core yarn using artificial neural networks and support vector machines

, 2020
Core yarn is a type of yarn that has a filament fiber in the center with a different fiber wrapped around it. This type of yarn is of growing importance in the textile industry. It is important to predict the quality characteristics of a core yarn before

High-Resolution, Fast, and Shape-Conformable Hydrogen Sensor Platform: Polymer Nanofiber Yarn Coupled with Nanograined Pd@Pt.

ACS Nano, 2019
We report a flexible hydrogen sensing platform based on a single-strand yarn consisting of high-density electrospun nanofibers, on which nanograined Pd or Pd@Pt is coated via yarn spinning followed by sputter deposition.

Characterizing cotton yarn appearance due to yarn-to-yarn abrasion by image processing

The Journal of The Textile Institute, 2013
In this paper changes in the appearance of 100% cotton ring spun yarns due to several yarn-to-yarn abrasion cycles before rupture are characterized. Different pictorial indexes for four different yarn counts are evaluated. The process of abraded yarns is defined by image processing techniques.

Wicking in twisted yarns

Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, 2008
This paper investigated vertical wicking in twisted yarns. A mathematical model was developed based on a capillary penetration mechanism. By using a macroscopic force balance approach, the wicking time was derived as a function of the capillary rise of the liquid. Packing of fibers in the yarn was assumed to be uniform.

Yarn Constructions and Yarn Formation Techniques

2016
Yarns are an important basic element for both the production and the assembly of textile reinforcement structures. They consist of either a 100 % reinforcement fibers or a blend of reinforcement and matrix fibers. They are made from filaments and/or staple fibers by means of different technologies, which allow the customization of structure and ...
