Image Analysis as a Method of the Assessment of Yarn for Making Flat Textile Fabrics

open access: yesAUTEX Research Journal, 2020
During the technological processing of staple fibers into yarn drafting, waves are formed which increase the irregularity of yarn linear density and consequently affect the yarn quality. Even a correctly performed technological process does not allow one

The Effects of Trade Liberalization in Textiles and Clothing on the Greek Market for Cotton Yarn: A Multi-Market Analysis [PDF]

open access: yes
The Round of Uruguay (1987-1995) signaled the end of the Multi Fiber Agreement (MFA) for textiles and clothing. The quota regime, in place since 1974, was decided, according to the Agreement on Textiles and Clothing (ATC; 1995), to be gradually ...

Yarn hairiness characterization using two orthogonal directions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
We demonstrate that one can adequately characterize Yarn hairiness by imaging the yarn along a single projection direction using coherent optical processing.

Dense Nanofibrillar Collagen–Silica Hybrids with High Strength and ECM‐Mimetic Tissue Integration

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Dense nanofibrillar collagen–silica hybrids are engineered by synchronizing collagen fibrillogenesis with silica condensation, producing printable scaffolds that unexpectedly approach native extracellular matrix organization and strength. These cell‐free constructs guide endogenous cell‐infiltration, enable localized matrix remodeling, and integrate ...

Pemodelan Pengaruh Nomor dan Kecepatan Pengantar Benang Terhadap Kekuatan Benang Ring Spinning Menggunakan Mekanika Klasik dan Regresi Multivarian Nonlinear

open access: yesJurnal Fisika Flux, 2019
The application of theoretical physics can be found in textile processing such as yarn manufacturing process. The aim of this research is to determine and to develop a new model to predict the yarn strength of ring spun yarn influenced by the yarn count ...

Extending the yarning yarn: Collaborative Yarning Methodology for ethical Indigenist education research

open access: yesThe Australian Journal of Indigenous Education, 2019
Abstract Yarning scholarship is emerging in the Australian context. There are a growing number of Indigenous scholars who advocate for using yarning in research and this paper aims to contribute to this methodological discussion. In this paper, I outline the development of a methodology, which I have named Collaborative Yarning Methodology (CYM).

MAGTWIST: A Magnetically‐Driven Rotary Actuator Using a Traveling‐Wave With Integrated Stiffness Tunability

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
MAGTWIST: A compact magnetic rotary actuator, enabling smooth, stepless rotation, and on‐demand locking. Inspired by peristalsis, a soft polymer belt generates a traveling‐wave, enabling 270° rotation when heated. Cooling stiffens the belt, locking it in position and enabling it to withstand high loads.
