Exploring the Potential of Microwave Annealing for Enhancing Si‐based GeSn Lasers

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
We explore low‐thermal‐budget microwave annealing to enhance the performance of group‐IV GeSn lasers on Si. Microwave annealing under optimal conditions can simultaneously relax unwanted compressive strain and enhance the material quality of the GeSn active layer, thereby reducing the threshold and increasing the laser operating temperature.

The influence of biopolymer coatings on the physical-mechanical properties of yarns

open access: yesKoža & obuća
The modification of polyester yarn was carried out with the aim of producing sustainable coatings from from erythritol, gelatine and collagen with the addition of propolis and alginate fibres and a natural plasticiser (glycerine). The advantage of the sustainable coatings is that they consist of compounds that can be taken orally and are therefore ...

Physical and Mechanical Properties of Tenun Pahang Fabrics using Alternative Yarns

open access: yesScientific Research Journal, 2016
An investigation on the properties of Tenun Pahang fabric performances using alternative yarns was conducted. The studies were made in order to evaluate whether the Tenun Pahang fabric could be produced economically and at the same time maintain the fabric quality. Traditional Tenun Pahang fabric uses silk for both warp and weft.

Material Selection and Geometric Design for Few‐filament Shape Memory Polymer Yarns for Force Generation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A custom shape memory polymer material selection process relates quantitative application criteria (e.g., compression garment yarns) to material characterization information. The selected materials are manufactured into yarn geometries, which expand the design space by creating structural stress‐strain profiles beyond the nominal material stress‐strain
