Effect of polyester and elastane linear density on the physical and mechanical properties of dual-core-spun cotton yarns

open access: yesJournal of Natural Fibers, 2020
The use of single-core elastic spun cotton yarns is well established in textiles and denim industry but interest in the use of dual-core-spun yarns has started to grow only recently.

Characterization and Spinning Performance of Pineapple Leaf Fibers: An Economic and Sustainable Approach for Bangladesh

open access: yesJournal of Natural Fibers, 2021
The by-products of pineapple fruits such as stems and leaves are generally considered as agro-wastes, but these wastes can be used as raw materials for reinforced fibre, yarn and eventually in fabric formation.

System of Material and Construction Parameters for a Reliable Simulation of Textile Surfaces in the Clothing Industry

open access: yesEngineering Proceedings, 2023
Garment simulation enables the reduction of physical prototypes, saving time, material and costs. Complete elimination of physical prototypes is not yet possible because simulation is not reliable enough for a robust fit analysis.

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Study of the bijective relationship between the single and bundle cotton fiber mechanical properties [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The characterization of cotton fiber is very complex due to the growing and harvesting conditions of the cotton plant. It is very important for breeders to understand the relationships that may exist between specific fiber properties, overall fiber ...

The Physical Properties of Non-Circular Shaper(+Type) DTY Yarn [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Korean Society for Clothing Industry, 2011
Abstract : In the study, the physical properties of the raw sample, non-circular(+ type) DTY yarn(50d level) with absorp-tion and quick-dry function, were examined before and after being twisted(1000T/M). The results are as follows: Theshrinkage of non-cricular(+type) DTY yarn(50d/36f) at 180 o C was about 6-7% with twisted samples, but the ...

Experimental methodology of study of damage initiation and development in textile composites in uniaxial tensile test [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Damage in textile composites is closely connected with the internal micro- and meso-geometry of the reinforcement, and reveals features, which are not present in the damage processes in classical laminates. This paper proposes a test sequence intended to

A Numerical–Experimental Approach for Multi‐Matrix Fiber‐Reinforced Plastics Characterization Using Finite Element Model Updating

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A numerical–experimental framework is developed for characterizing multi‐matrix fiber‐reinforced polymers (MM‐FRPs) combining epoxy and polyurethane matrices. Harmonic bending tests are integrated with finite element model updating (FEMU) to simultaneously identify elastic and viscoelastic material parameters.
