Single‐Step Recovery of Water from Stable Crude Oil‐Water Emulsion Using Surface Engineered Hybrid Inorganic‐Polymer Membranes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Atomic layer deposition is used to conformally surface engineer polymeric membranes to fabricate inorganic–organic hybrid membranes. These membranes have exceptionally strong attraction toward water even in high oil containing emulsions, which leads to an extremely strong hydration layer at the interface.

From Photoalignment to Structured Light: Liquid Crystal Platforms for Beam Shaping and Complex Wavefronts

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Photoaligned and photopatterned liquid crystal platforms provide programmable control of optical phase, polarization, and spin‐orbit interactions, enabling compact generation of structured light and complex wavefronts. This review highlights how tailored molecular orientations transform simple beams into designed optical fields, opening versatile ...

Brood parasitism leads to zero recruitment in the globally endangered Yellow CardinalGubernatrix cristata

open access: yesBird Conservation International, 2020
SummaryThe Yellow CardinalGubernatrix cristatais an ‘Endangered’ passerine from southern South America. For the past three years a management plan for Yellow Cardinals has been implemented in Argentina, in which rescued individuals from the illegal cage bird trade were released back into suitable habitats within their population of origin.

Behavioural responses are associated with mortality and mobility after reintroduction in the endangered Yellow Cardinal

Ibis, 2023
Reintroductions are an important management tool for the conservation of threatened species. Personality or temperament of individuals is likely to influence survival in the reintroduction success of released individuals. We studied behavioural traits related to personality in the globally endangered Yellow Cardinal Gubernatrix cristata and analysed ...
